OpenRF Platform v1.2.0 Final (ESP8266)
The final feature release for the ESP8266 platform is now complete.
OpenRF Platform v1.2.0 represents the culmination of the original ESP8266 + CC1101 architecture. During its development, the project evolved from a simple RF gateway into a complete open-source RF platform featuring native protocol support, a built-in RF Analyzer, RAW transmission, Home Assistant integration, MQTT, OTA updates and a modern web interface.

ESP8266 Status
With v1.2.0, the ESP8266 implementation is considered feature complete.
Future ESP8266 releases will focus only on critical bug fixes when required.
Looking Ahead – OpenRF Platform v2 (ESP32)
Development now moves to the next-generation ESP32 platform.
The goal of OpenRF Platform v2 is not simply to port the existing firmware, but to build a significantly more capable RF automation platform without the memory limitations of the ESP8266.

- Dual CC1101 radios (433 MHz + 868 MHz simultaneously)
- Native ESP32 architecture
- Significantly expanded protocol framework

- Improved multitasking and overall performance
- LoRa communication
One of the most exciting features currently under evaluation is native LoRa node-to-node communication.

- Long-distance sensor networks
The ESP32 generation will continue expanding the native protocol framework while remaining fully compatible with the concepts introduced in the ESP8266 releases.
