Cratebug 2026.10.12
Added
- Signature bypass tool in the Tools dialog. It installs DeathChaos25's UTOC Signature Bypass (Ultimate ASI Loader plus plugin) into the detected game's Win64 folder so mods load at all, verifies every file by checksum first, never overwrites files it does not own, and removes its own files on request. Blocked while Marvel Rivals runs.
Changed
- Cratebug has a fresh coat of paint. Dark mode is Midnight Iris: deep night navy with a violet kick. Light mode is porcelain: white cards on soft blue-gray, with quieter trim. Buttons, switches, focus rings, and badges all dress to match.
- Six accent presets now tint the app, each with its own shade for light and dark: Iris (the new default), Coral, Amber, Mint, Rose, and Azure. Presets follow whichever theme you are using.
- Picked a custom color before? It sticks around. A saved color from the old preset lineup stays as your custom accent until you choose a new one.

Decrypted crates stay intact
- Decrypting an encrypted mod now unwraps it in place instead of rebuilding it, so meshes, textures, and other assets come out the other side intact.
- Each decrypted mod keeps its own identity. Decrypted mods no longer share a single container ID that made them collide with each other.
- Encrypt and Decrypt scrub leftover
chunknamesandpatched_filesentries before swapping files in, so a freshly encrypted or decrypted mod won't trip anti-cheat.
Packing a spare crate
- The Tools menu has Backup / Restore. Backup zips the whole library plus your tags and settings to a file you pick, with progress and cancel along the way.
- Restore previews a backup first: its file date, how many mods it holds, and whether your tags and settings ride along. Confirming replaces the current library, so it warns you when there's something to lose. Close the game first. A failed or cancelled restore leaves your current library alone.

Safer disguises
- Fixed Encrypt corrupting mesh and texture mods. Encryption now rewrites the container in place instead of rebuilding it, so your mods come out the other side intact.
- The catalog header has a new filter button: show All, Encrypted, or Unencrypted mods to find things faster.

Crates in disguise
- Each mod now has an Encrypt on install switch for complete IoStore bundles. Choose encryption before a local or Nexus install. Tiny switch, fancy disguise!
- Clear mods start with the switch off. Already encrypted mods keep their costume.

Taking your crates to Linux
- Your crates are now supported on Linux distros. WOOHOOOO!
- Cratebug now ships on Linux as an AppImage. Point it at your Steam library, and it spots Marvel Rivals running through Proton.
- Deleted mods land in desktop Trash, so you can bring them back. Cratebug opens mods and folders in your file manager and catches
nxm://links. - Secret Service guards your Nexus key. If that service is missing, Cratebug stores it in a local file only your account can read or write.
Smoothing the ride
- File Explorer opens the right mod or folder, even when its path has spaces or commas.
- Settings hold their width while you scroll, and focus outlines have room to show.
- Disabled buttons now keep a calm, standard cursor.

Watching the crates live
- Drop a mod into your folder, rename it in Windows Explorer, or delete a whole batch—Cratebug catches it right away. No manual refresh button and no restarting required.
- If a new mod needs IoStore encryption or has leftover companion files (
chunknames), Cratebug notices on the fly and offers the fix. - Your search query, active folder, and checked cards stay right where you left them while the library reloads.
Finding your crates
- You can now open any mod or folder directly in File Explorer straight from Cratebug.
Settling in
- Warnings now show up in yellow, saving red alerts for actual errors.
- Popups have more breathing room and shorter, punchier text.
- Dropdown menus and scrollbars dress in dark theme so they stop blinding you.
- Added more hero portraits and skin assets for your catalog.

Getting new crates in
- Cratebug now respects your Content Blocking settings on Nexus!
Cratebug 2026.09.13
Small release. Added a few missing skins to your crates after the most recent Season 10 release! Enjoy modding!

Making it yours
- Feeling brave? Settings can skip the three-second countdown on delete, encrypt, and rebuild. You still confirm, the button just stops making you wait for it. Off by default!
Opening the crates faster
- We've made improvements in how we handle classifying mods, resulting in a startup that is 8x faster than it was before!
Lighter crates
- 85 MB down to about 36 MB, portraits and all. Updates grab the whole installer, so every one from here is a lighter haul!

Getting new crates in
- Nexus Mods is in! Paste your personal API key in Settings. It stays on this machine, Cratebug never shows it again, and Connect is what makes it real. Premium and free accounts both work. Disclaimer: This is a proof of concept for Nexus to review.
- The download icon in the header wants a Marvel Rivals mod page now, not a mystery file URL. If the page has more than one file, you pick MAIN or OPTIONAL. Cratebug pre-selects the primary file and does not install on its own.
- Premium accounts download through the Nexus API and land in the same install preview as a local archive.
- Free accounts still get the crate! Cratebug opens the Nexus page, you click Mod Manager Download, and Windows hands the link over. If Cratebug is closed, that click launches it. If it is already open, the window pops to the front.
- Turn on "Open Nexus downloads in Cratebug" and the Mod Manager Download button comes here. If another app already owns that button, Cratebug names it and asks before taking over.
Several crates at once
- Check a bunch of mods and use the new Actions menu to enable, disable, move, tag, encrypt, or delete them together. Click a card to look at it. Ctrl+click to add more. Shift+click for a whole stretch. Select all grabs everything in the current folder and search. No little checkboxes parked on every card!
A lock Marvel Rivals can actually open
- Encrypt or decrypt a complete IoStore mod from that same menu. Cratebug rebuilds the bundle with the game's own key so the game can load it, and a lock mark shows which crates are wrapped. Close the game first. Big mods can take a minute!
- Encrypted mods classify like everyone else now. Hero, skin, category, the works. They are not a mysterious Unknown anymore.
- Mods that wander outside character skins will not load until they are encrypted. On first load Cratebug offers to wrap those for you. Say not now if you want, and Refresh will not ask again.
Keeping the crate tidy
- Leftover
chunknamesandpatched_filesentries inside a companion.pakcrash Marvel Rivals anti-cheat these days. Cratebug spots them on first load and offers to rewrite just those.pakfiles. The rest of the mod stays put. Install preview warns too, and the cleanup happens before anything lands in the library.
Settling in
- A library scan no longer leaves checks on mods that already left. If it is gone from the crate, it is gone from the checked set too.
