AZ-MODS is now OPEN SOURCE!

The source code of the mods, the SDK for building your own mods, example mods and a
developer emulator are now public on GitHub under the GPL-3.0:

1.2.3 10-16-2026

  • NEW · AZ-MODS is now open source (GPL-3.0): the mods' source code, the SDK for building your own mods, example mods and the emulator are all public on GitHub.
  • NEW · Community Mods tab: browse, install, turn on or off, and remove community mods on your USB, with progress and Cancel while installing.
  • FIXED · While stems were being made, a deck could find the track's empty stems folder and play it without stems. A track's stems now appear on the USB only once they are complete.
  • IMPROVED · Library Backup & Repair now also fixes a USB that makes rekordbox say "Device library is corrupted" after editing playlists on the AZ.
  • IMPROVED · A stem model download that stops now continues where it left off, and says why it stopped.
  • IMPROVED · Root Patch reads the firmware file back from the USB after writing it, and removes it if it doesn't match.
  • CHANGED · Remote Stems pairing is more secure: the pairing code never travels over the network. Update both the AZ-MODS app and the mods to 1.2.3; existing pairings keep working.

1.2.2 10-08-2026

  • NEW · Library Backup & Repair: checks a USB for the damage older versions of AZ-MODS could leave in rekordbox's Device Library, and repairs it in one click, keeping a backup.

MAC: use mac.dmg (Apple Silicon) or mac-intel.dmg (Intel)
WINDOWS: use setup.exe

1.2.0 10-07-2026

  • NEW · Root Patch now accepts the stock firmware 2.00 file (XDJAZv200.UPD) and builds firmware 2.01 with AZ-MODS. Firmware 1.30 still builds 1.32.
  • IMPROVED · Root Patch replaces an older AZ-MODS firmware file already on the USB instead of asking you to delete it.

1.1.5 10-06-2026

1.1.4 10-05-2026

  • NEW · Copy stems to another USB: right-click a drive and choose "Copy stems from ". Tracks are matched by their audio, so renamed or moved copies of a song get their stems too. Before copying, it shows how many tracks match, the size, and the free space.
  • NEW · Time estimates: while stems are being made, the status bar shows about how long is left, and the right-click menu estimates a playlist or folder before you start. Estimates are learned from how fast your computer actually runs.
  • NEW · The status bar shows whether stems are being made on the GPU or the CPU (Windows).
  • NEW · If the app closes in the middle of making stems, it offers to finish the remaining tracks the next time it opens.
  • NEW · When a run ends, the status bar shows a summary: how many tracks, how long it took, and how many failed.
  • NEW · The sidebar shows how many tracks on the selected drive have stems; hover a playlist or folder to see its count.
  • FIXED · Making stems no longer fails on some MP3s with a damaged frame near the end ("The engine hit an internal error ... LibsndfileError").
  • FIXED · On Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 12 to 13.2, making stems no longer fails ("stem encoding needs soundfile"). The app now runs on macOS 12 or newer on Apple Silicon, and uses the faster engine on macOS 13.3 and newer.
  • IMPROVED · In the sidebar, the stem mark on a playlist sits to the right of its track count.

@Kyle-Hosman Kyle-Hosman released this 03 Oct 15:06

1.1.2 10-03-2026

  • FIXED · On Windows, making stems at High or Very High no longer fails with "The engine hit an internal error".
  • FIXED · On Windows, tracks by artists with accented names (like Måneskin) no longer fail with "no such track".
  • FIXED · After an app update, What's new and mods updates use the newest mods set, not an older downloaded one.
  • FIXED · No red dot on Install / Uninstall without a USB, and the Install screen says which mods version is available.
  • IMPROVED · Progress bars keep moving while stems load and finish, instead of sitting at 5% or 95%.
  • IMPROVED · The first-time downloads show one bar with the real total.
  • IMPROVED · The stem marks match the deck's new look.
  • IMPROVED · Remote Stems: Cancel all.
  • IMPROVED · The version number at the top right is now a button that opens What's new.

1.1.1 10-02-2026

  • FIXED · Remote Stems: the AZ can now find this computer when it also has a virtual network adapter (for example from WSL or Docker on Windows). Update the mods on your USB too.

MAC: use mac.dmg (Apple Silicon) or mac-intel.dmg (Intel)

@Kyle-Hosman Kyle-Hosman released this 02 Oct 23:48

1.1.0 10-02-2026

  • NEW · Stem Quality setting: Medium (the default), High or Very High. On Windows with an NVIDIA graphics card, High and Very High use a better vocal model, downloaded the first time it is needed.
  • NEW · Re-make stems from the right-click menu, or with the upgrade button that appears on a track whose stems were made at a lower quality. A failed or cancelled re-make keeps the old stems.
  • NEW · The track list shows the deck's stem mark: outlined while a track waits, filling while its stems are made, solid when they are ready.
  • NEW · A track order (#) column. Playlists open in their own order, and the columns can be sorted.
  • NEW · Remote Stems: turn it on once and the AZ can send tracks to this computer to make stems.
  • NEW · Eject a USB from its right-click menu.
  • FIXED · Tracks with accented names (like Tiësto) no longer fail with "The file is not on the stick any more".
  • FIXED · Cancelling an analysis no longer leaves large temp files in the USB's STEMS folder.
  • IMPROVED · Windows with NVIDIA: analyzing starts about 14 seconds sooner after the first run.
  • IMPROVED · Making stems for many tracks at once now asks first.
