Tray menu

The tray menu provides one state-aware show or hide action, quota refresh, and exit. It also supports arrow-key navigation, Enter, and Escape.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • The ChatGPT desktop app with Codex access

Install

Download LuoyeCodexMeter.exe from the latest release, then run it alongside ChatGPT. The initial release is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may ask for confirmation.

To build and install from source:

git clone https://github.com/LUOYEcode/LUOYE-Codex-Meter.git
cd LUOYE-Codex-Meter
.\install.ps1

The default install location is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\LUOYE Codex Meter.

Usage

  • Click the quota strip to open reset times and full details.
  • Drag the strip to place it anywhere on any connected display.
  • Click the refresh indicator to request fresh quota data.
  • Use the ellipsis or right-click the strip for commands.
  • Right-click the tray icon for show or hide, refresh, and exit.

Privacy and local data

LUOYE Codex Meter does not read or store account tokens and does not send its own telemetry. It starts the locally installed Codex app-server and requests quota data over standard input and output. The app-server continues to perform its normal authenticated communication.

Microsoft Store permissions prevent an unpackaged utility from launching the packaged Codex executable in place. On first refresh, the meter therefore creates a version-matched runtime cache under %LOCALAPPDATA%\LUOYE\CodexMeter\runtime. It is refreshed automatically after ChatGPT updates.

Settings and diagnostic logs are stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\LUOYE\CodexMeter.

Build

No SDK or third-party packages are required. Windows with .NET Framework 4.8 is sufficient:

.\build.ps1

The portable executable is written to dist\LuoyeCodexMeter.exe. The LUOYE mark is embedded in the executable.
