v1.5.8 - Plugin permissions, longer lists, and page safety
Compatibility
Requires the plugin preview firmware, Chauvet 3.29.43 beta for Manta / 2.26.40 for A5X and A6X.
That build introduced plugin permissions, and a plugin that doesn't ask for them can't read or write anything at all. Ink2Task now asks: to read when you open Settings, and to modify only when something is actually saved. It still runs on older firmware, where the permission system simply isn't there.
What's new since v1.1.0
Subtasks. They show on the page with a > marker, and you can create one by hand: write > Milk in a blank row and it files under the task above it. Works with Todoist, Google Tasks and TickTick. Apple Reminders gives other apps no access to subtasks at all, so it's left out rather than half-working.
Long lists carry on to more pages, up to five, around 65 tasks. Pages are added when the list needs them and cleared away when it shrinks, asking you first and telling you the page is blank.
Faster syncs, half the flashing. A page whose content hasn't changed is no longer repainted, only its timestamp is updated in place. A typical sync flashes the screen twice instead of four times.
Connecting over Wi-Fi actually works. On some tablets Android was silently refusing every one of the plugin's network requests, which looked exactly like the server being switched off. "Find server on Wi-Fi" now genuinely searches your network instead of needing a lucky guess to start from.
The on-page SYNC button no longer fires when the top menu covers it. This was the known limitation noted in v1.1.0. The plugin now asks the tablet whether the page is accepting handwriting and ignores the tap when it isn't.
Your notes are better protected. The plugin reads the list name printed on a page before drawing on it, clearing it, or deleting it. A page belonging to a different list is left alone even if its settings record has been lost. It also never removes a page without asking.
Errors say what's actually wrong. A rejected token, a missing list, a server that isn't running, and a network that can't reach your computer used to produce much the same message. Each now names the cause and gives one thing to do about it.
Handwritten due dates, priority flags, and per-page backends carried forward from the 1.2 line.
Installing
Download Ink2Task.snplg below and keep that exact filename, the installer rejects renamed copies.
On the tablet: Settings > Apps > Plugins, remove Ink2Task, then Install. Reboot after installing — a remove-then-install can leave an older copy of the plugin running in memory until the device restarts.
Running a companion server for Apple Reminders, Google Tasks or TickTick? Pull the latest and restart it, several fixes are on that side.
