Highlights

Adaptive healing is now the default for all test runs, replacing the old --retry flag. Mobile automation gets a major upgrade with smarter scrolling, a unified planning path, and tighter device control — making kane-cli more reliable when apps shift layout or need complex gesture sequences.

Healing runs by default

  • Adaptive healing is now on for every run — kane-cli automatically recovers when a test step fails due to layout changes, without any extra flags. The --retry flag is retired; healing is the new baseline.
  • Broken replays now recover cleanly — when a replay hits an unrecoverable state, the browser is recycled and re-attempts start from a clean app, rather than compounding errors from a dirty session.

Smarter mobile scrolling

  • Scroll until you find it — kane-cli can now collapse a scroll-and-search sequence into a single scroll_until operation, making scroll-heavy test steps shorter and more reliable.
  • Percent-based scroll vocabulary — scroll steps can now be expressed as a percentage of the screen, and exploration scrolls are batched together automatically for efficiency.
  • Drag and hold — drag_element can now hold the finger at the destination, enabling drag-to-slot and long-press-drag interactions.

More reliable mobile automation

  • App-start detection is more forgiving on Android — kane-cli now accepts any activity as a valid app-started signal, so tests no longer stall waiting for a specific entry point.
  • iOS and Android no longer interfere with each other — tab reads on iOS are no longer gated by the Android Chrome rule, and iOS simulators no longer advertise volume controls that don't exist.
  • Device reads are faster — per-step device time drops by overlapping and reusing reads where possible.

Sharper planning and checkpoints

  • Unified planning is now the default — It handles both steps and checkpoints in one call, reducing round-trips and resolving confirm-step instability caused by missing reasoning.
  • Pre-action checkpoints are now always scheduled — kane-cli captures a checkpoint before each action by default, giving you a reliable record of what the screen looked like before anything was touched.

Cleaner setup and help

  • run --target now works on every host — setting a target at run time is no longer silently ignored depending on how kane-cli was launched; it behaves the same as config set-target.
  • Help text reflects the correct product positioning — --help output and the TUI boot header now show the Kane-CLI validation-layer tagline consistently.
