Highlights

  • Much faster on JPEG: trailers are now found the way ExifTool finds them, walking back from the end of the file instead of scanning the whole image. About 10× faster on a corpus of camera JPEGs, plus faster composites, flate2 for Deflate and ~5× faster Google HDR+ maker notes (#23, thanks @jmoiron).
  • Olympus ORF files are read again (#24): the IIRO, IIRS and MMOR headers were rejected, so every ORF came back as UnsupportedFileType.
  • GPS in numeric mode matches ExifTool: signed decimal degrees, signed altitude, GPSPosition as two numbers, Unknown (x) for unknown refs.
  • ExifTool::write_warnings(), and a request that cannot be written is skipped with a warning instead of failing the whole write, as ExifTool does.
  • Breaking (low-level writer API): writer::png_writer::PngTextChanges has three new fields.

Read parity with ExifTool 13.59 stays at 199/199 files; write matrix 460 cases with no new failure.
