v0.18.2 - Local images on current Python, smaller art, on server 0.27.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Oct 06:50

Built on server 0.27.2: the character builder, WorldForge and AI DM changes from that release, plus local image installs that work on current Python.

In the apps

  • Everything in server 0.27.2 reaches the native screens: builder drafts with Resume, library Level up, class roles and filters, name dice, WorldForge's merges and file checks, and the AI DM's clearer refusals. Every browser scenario passes against the app's own screens.
  • Local images install on current Python: NVIDIA installs torch from cu126 (cu128 for RTX 50 cards), AMD on Linux from rocm6.4, and the installer picks a Python from 3.10 to 3.14, rebuilding an old environment that pip could never fill (#60).

Size

  • Every picture ships once: the art the app carries beside its game bundle is left out of the server payload; an audit of a staged desktop build found two identical pairs in 4,503 files (0.15 MB).
  • Smaller art: the 93 new race portraits ship at the set's quality and the sidebar and shell icons are WebP, so with all of 0.27.2 inside, each installer grows only 0.0 to 0.5 MB (the APK 113.5 to 113.8 MB).

v0.18.1 - A guided campaign creator with your own defaults

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 05:04

The apps' half of server 0.27.1: the guided three-step campaign creator with saved personal defaults, @DM out-of-character answers, and the character-builder fixes, built on server 0.27.1.

Campaign creator

  • New campaign opens the three-step creator (Essentials, Experience, Review) on every app, with character voices beside narration and your own saved defaults. Checked running inside the app shell on desktop and phone sizes.

Everything else from server 0.27.1

  • @DM questions answered at once, the Codex lockdown and per-model Effort, and the builder's jump-ahead, focus, effects and companion fixes. See the server release for the full list.

v0.18.0 - Add to Steam, a phone world private until shared, and steadier sharing and startup, on server 0.27.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 06:17

The apps on server 0.27.0, plus Add to Steam on Linux, a phone world that stays private until you share it, and a round of fixes to sharing, startup, quitting and joining.

Steam Deck and Linux

  • Add to Steam in Settings, under Steam Deck and controllers: the app joins your Steam library with its artwork and the launch options it needs, on every Linux install kind (#54). The first time the app opens on a Steam Deck in Desktop Mode it offers this itself, once (#55).

Your world

  • A phone world is private until shared. It listens only on the phone until "Share on this Wi-Fi", as the desktop always has, and the switch now works on Android (#53).
  • A damaged saved-server list is recovered, from the copy of the last clean start, instead of being written over; the made-up password for your own world survives (#53).
  • Uninstalling image AI unwires the world from the ComfyUI it removed (#58).
  • The local server, the text AI, ComfyUI and the tunnel helper report a program that cannot be launched instead of waiting out their deadline, and an AI service counts as running only once it answers (#37, #40).
  • Quitting shares one deadline and always stops the local world by it (#36).

Sharing and joining

  • Stopping a share during startup keeps it stopped, publication and cleanup run in order, and a cleanup that fails is retried (#35, #38, #44).
  • A quick-tunnel address split across the helper's output is found (#42).
  • A malformed invite is refused as invalid, and both join buttons recover from a failed join (#43).
  • Logging out of a remote game through the portal revokes the remote session, not your local one (#39); a failed Discord sign-in page settles (#41).
  • Opening a remote world on its native screens checks the world's identity, follows a moved world and renews an expired session first, as the embedded view always did (#45).

Story AI

  • The "my OpenAI key" door picks the storyteller, picture and dictation models from the key's own list (#58, server #298).
  • The agent picker shows an agent that cannot narrate (opencode 1.x, an unreadable config) as needing attention (#58).

At the table

  • The dictation key is in Audio and dice (#56, server issue #291).
  • Android's back gesture closes an open tour or dialog in the world before going back a page (#57, server issue #306).
  • R1 at a table with no microphone says so (#58).

Thanks @Xargot for #35 to #45.

Everything else in server 0.27.0 reaches the apps' screens too: prep cards and World Lore that keep their whole length, tours finished once per account, prep brought in and campaigns ended from the table, and per-table rerolls.

v0.17.6 - Windows: the server finds its packages again (issue #280), on server 0.26.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 11:54

A fix release for Windows: the app installed by 0.17.3 to 0.17.5 could not open a campaign ("Could not load the campaign", ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND for multilingual-stemmer-… in local-server.log). Upgrading mends an affected install on its own.

Your world

  • Windows: the server finds its packages again. Since 0.17.3 the app unpacks an upgrade beside the live tree and renames it into place, and the links its server loads some packages through were made before the rename. A Windows junction keeps the absolute path it was made with, so after the rename every one of them pointed at a folder that no longer existed, and the first campaign to touch one of those packages failed to load. The links are now made where the tree runs, and every start checks them and replaces one that reaches nothing, so an install broken by 0.17.3 to 0.17.5 is mended at its next start. Thank you to @MCard-Well for the report with the exact junction target and the hand fix (server issue #280, #52).
  • Linux and Mac were not affected; their links were relative and survived the rename.

Still on server 0.26.4.

v0.17.5 - Upgrades keep installed world packs, a Troubleshooting card, on server 0.26.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 03:12

The apps on server 0.26.4, plus upgrades that keep your installed world packs and a Troubleshooting card that checks and repairs the app's own files.

Your world

  • An upgrade keeps the installed world packs. Both shells now carry data/ across a payload swap, and Windows waits out file locks on the run tree instead of stalling (#48, issue #49).
  • Settings > Troubleshooting:
    • Check files compares the installed server files against the payload's manifest.
    • Repair rebuilds them and keeps everything you made.
    • Clear cached files, Copy summary for a bug report, and Show logs.
    • Reset the app sets the whole data folder aside under a dated name; nothing is deleted.
    • A server that fails to start on a damaged file is repaired once on its own (#50).

At the table

  • The D-pad resizes the table's panels while you arrange them (#47, issue #46; server #267 brings the movable panels).
  • On a phone, a dropdown near the bottom of the screen no longer takes the tap that opened it as a choice.

Story AI

  • With Claude Code as the storyteller, Fast is offered where Claude Code itself says the model has it, the same way as for Codex (server #266).

Everything else in server 0.26.4 reaches the apps' screens too: model pickers that list what each backend serves, image models ranked for your hardware, and seating a player agent in a few steps.

Full changelog: v0.17.4...v0.17.5

v0.17.4 - The visual pass recut: a third smaller than the first 0.17.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 08:43

The apps on server v0.26.3, with the visual pass, the native screens for the new server features, and two desktop fixes from Xargot.

Shell

  • The visual pass (PR #27). The Android splash keeps its shape on every screen (the launch theme no longer stretches a full-screen bitmap), and the title screen and worlds match the website's home edge to edge and in motion.
  • Home menu glyphs (PR #31) use the server's redrawn UI icons; a guard keeps the shell's glyphs shipping compressed.
  • Developer Tools open in their own window (PR #32, Xargot). The View menu item and Ctrl+Shift+I toggled nothing visible while a server's page covered the window.

Pictures

  • Bundled covers in inline backgrounds (PR #30, Xargot). The campaign-setting cards paint their cover plates through CSS; in the desktop's file:// renderer and on Android's https://localhost page those root-relative paths pointed nowhere. Every such path now resolves the way a picture element does: the app's bundled copy, the host for a public path, or a token-fetched object URL for a protected one.
  • The placeholder art from server v0.26.3 (readable board tokens, aboleths, UI glyphs) rides in every installer.

Size

This is the v0.17.3 recut, published as v0.17.4 because Play had already seen a 0.17.3 upload. The first grew every installer by a third over v0.17.2 (the arm64 APK from 111 MB to 143 MB) for two reasons, both fixed here:

  • The placeholder art ships at the size the UI draws. Server v0.26.3's creature plates and scenes arrived at 512 px and 1000 px; they are now 256 px and 704 px like the rest of the set (27.8 MB down to 9.8 MB), with the server's byte-budget test lowered to hold them there.
  • Duplicate server chunks are folded. The server build wrote the same 1.1 MB chunk under 65 names (84 MB of identical files in all); the payload prune now keeps one copy and points the others at it.

Native screens for the new server features

  • Library build editor and the host's confirm dialog (PR #29); the Story AI door offers the Fast tier, and the app screens carry server issues 249 to 255 (PR #33).

Built from open-dungeon-master v0.26.3.

v0.17.3 - The visual pass, inline backgrounds that resolve like media, detached Developer Tools

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 08:14

The apps on server v0.26.3, with the visual pass, the native screens for the new server features, and two desktop fixes from Xargot.

  • The placeholder art from server v0.26.3 (readable board tokens, aboleths, UI glyphs) rides in every installer.

Size

This is the second cut of v0.17.3. The first grew every installer by a third over v0.17.2 (the arm64 APK from 111 MB to 143 MB) for two reasons, both fixed here:

  • The placeholder art ships at the size the UI draws. Server v0.26.3's creature plates and scenes arrived at 512 px and 1000 px; they are now 256 px and 704 px like the rest of the set (27.8 MB down to 9.8 MB), with the server's byte-budget test lowered to hold them there.

v0.17.2 - Rebuilt on server 0.26.2: the sound library downloads on demand, half the install size

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 06:25

Rebuilt on server 0.26.2. The sound library no longer ships inside the app, so every installer is back to its pre-0.17.1 size, and the Android bundle fits Play's limit again.

Sound library

  • The bundled server leaves public/ambience out. A world you host starts silent; the Sound panel (and the admin panel) shows Download the sound library, a 75 MB Opus pack fetched once and kept across app updates. Players joining someone else's world stream audio from that host, as before.
  • Server 0.26.2 re-encoded the library to Opus (146 MB to 76 MB) and gives the pack installer a lighter path on phones.

Pictures

  • The majority-voted placeholder thumbnails from server 0.26.2 (Smoebo's #201): 171 replaced and six workshop plates added.

Model backends

  • From server 0.26.2: a backend connection dropped before any reply is asked again once instead of telling the table "The model is unavailable".

Build

  • The local smoke test reads the server's one-time setup code off its log, which server 0.26 started requiring for the first account, and checks the payload offers the sound pack rather than carrying it.

v0.17.1 - Rebuilt on server 0.26.1, Android edge to edge

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 04:05

Rebuilt on server 0.26.1, and the Android app draws edge to edge without the APIs Android 15 deprecated.

From the server (0.26.1)

  • A Table language setting: the DM writes in one of 15 languages, and the server reads story and player text the same way in every one of them.
  • The Sound panel: now playing, takes per cue, Next, per-layer level, and pickers for whoever steers the story, with the open-licensed library bundled in the app.
  • One player with several characters: Play as moves every combat control at once, the enlarged board carries the Play as strip and the tools, reach is measured to a creature's nearest square, and a companion can be handed to the DM.
  • Agents read the DM's whispers, Z-Image Turbo as a ComfyUI image model, and the dependency refresh.

The apps (#25, #26)

  • Android enables edge to edge on every version before the bridge sets its content view, and the deprecated statusBarColor and navigationBarColor theme attributes are gone; the window background shows through the transparent bars, so the look is unchanged.
  • The in-app browser plugin (@capgo/inappbrowser 7.29.4) is patched with upstream's SystemUiChromeSupport helper, so Play's deprecated-API note for edge to edge no longer reads it in the dex.

v0.17.0 - Rebuilt on server 0.26.0, a leaner payload

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 04:15

Rebuilt on server 0.26.0 (the workshop's rules fidelity and WorldForge, the travelling Market, the 2014 rules audit fixes, bounded agent reads and player webhooks, and the painted race and class portraits; see its notes), with a smaller payload and a fix for pictures drawn as SVG.

Pictures

  • The painted race and class portraits ride in the app's own art bundle, once, and the server payload leaves them out, as with every placeholder. The whole placeholder set is about 4.4 MB.
  • An SVG picture whose address is set on the image element loads from the host on the first try instead of after a retry (the WorldForge atlas and web use them). (#24)

Payload

  • The bundled server leaves behind its source maps, type declarations, TypeScript sources, readmes and packages' test folders: about 1.2 MB across some 600 files that no running server opens. Licenses stay. The desktop payload and the Android zip both go through the same prune.
