Ledgence 0.5.0 adds Python program preparation and HTTP publication to the unified CLI. It also includes the installable Python worker helper introduced in 0.4.1 for workflow development.
Highlights
- Build an explicit application package and its hash-pinned wheel dependencies for a selected worker image and Python runtime with
ledgence program build. - Publish immutable artifacts over HTTP and optionally register them with
ledgence program publish --server URL --register. - Resume interrupted publication from a saved receipt without rebuilding or changing the original artifact.
- Install the dependency-free
ledgence-workerpackage forledgence.workerimports, autocomplete and local business-function tests. - Implement custom publication storage through the portable Rust
ProgramArtifactPublisherport.
Install
curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSfL https://github.com/Ledgence/ledgence/releases/latest/download/install.sh | shFor Python workflow development:
uv add --dev "ledgence-worker==0.5.0"
uv add "ledgence-client==0.5.0"Native bundles include Console and the digest-pinned local Docker kit. Supported native targets are Linux x86_64/glibc and macOS arm64. Runtime images support Linux amd64 and arm64 with CPython 3.14:
docker pull ledgence/ledgence:0.5.0-python3.14Both Rust API crates are available at version 0.5.0. Checksums, provenance, licenses and corresponding image sources accompany the downloadable artifacts.
Upgrading
CLI installation does not upgrade running services or saved local kits. Program uploads require an updated orchestrator with --allow-program-publication and a writable filesystem program store; new local kits enable it explicitly. Use a separate local state directory to evaluate the new kit, or plan your existing deployment's upgrade with backups.
A program version identifies one immutable artifact, including its target platform. Another architecture requires a different program ID or version. Worker hosts still need access to the shared artifact store. Builds currently require a local Docker endpoint, a digest-pinned Linux runtime image, and compatible public-PyPI wheels; source distributions and private indexes are not supported by this builder.
There are no new PostgreSQL migrations compared with 0.4.0. Console contract 5 and workflow protocol 3 remain unchanged. Rust callers constructing RegisterProgram must set expected_descriptor to None or the descriptor to bind; its HTTP JSON field is optional.
See the program publication guide and native dependency example. Ledgence-owned code is MIT; retained third-party notices remain applicable. Self-hosted use requires no Ledgence account.
