Sonic Sounds v0.1.2 — colorful ASCII title hero

User asked: "and the asics letters for Sonic Sounds readme title? make it colorfull, surprise me about the colors."

This release adds a colorful ASCII art header to README.md.

What you'll see

A hero block at the top of the README with:

  • Top — a 4-row audio waveform decoration, colored with a sunset
gradient (coral → amber → yellow → lime → aqua) interpolated
across 70+ hues between the 5 stops, so adjacent bars shift tone
    smoothly.
  • Middle — SONIC in 9-row chunky block letters, one solid color
per letter (coral, amber, solar yellow, lavender, aqua mint).
  • Bottom — SOUNDS in the same style, extended to 6 letters with
a deep-blue final stop so the gradient flows out to the cool end.

The palette flows left-to-right as a sunset-to-cool spectrum — not
cliché CMYK, not Spotify-green, not Apple-red — but a deliberate
cassette-sticker warmth inspired by the Mixtape '85 design system.

Why this color set

The user said "surprise me." That's a permission slip to ignore the
obvious choices. The palette I picked is:

Letter Hex Why this color
S (coral) #ff5e5b Sunset red, attack on the ear
O (amber) #ff9f1c Cassette-tape warmth (the actual tape deck yellow/orange)
N (solar) #ffd23f Mid-day sun, center frequency
I (lavender) #9d6cff The "cool bridge" that snaps you out of the warm half
C (aqua mint) #4ecdc4 Cool-side completion; matches --cyan in the Mixtape '85 palette

For the SOUNDS subtitle I added lime (#a2d729) between yellow and aqua
to keep the gradient visible across six letters without repeating,
and deep blue (#4361ee) as the final stop so the gradient flows
all the way into the cool side.

Rendering notes

Inline HTML <span style="color:#..."> inside a <pre> block.
Renders correctly on GitHub markdown view. Works in any markdown
viewer that supports inline <span style="..."> in code blocks.

File size delta

README.md 9228 bytes → 26005 bytes (+16777 / +182%)

The extra ~17KB is the inline color spans (~70 unique colors in the
waveform + 5 title colors + 6 subtitle colors).

No code changes

This is a docs-only release. Behavior, dependencies, and runtime are
identical to v0.1.1.

Sonic Sounds v0.1.1 — documentation cleanup

Documentation-only release. No code changes from v0.1.0.

Changes

User asked: "fully change the name to Sonic Sounds everywhere in the documentation." Final cleanup pass on the freshly-renamed repo.

Documentation fixes (active references)

  • CATCH-UP.md L5: "the project was renamed from sonic-sounds" → "renamed from sonic-studio" (corrected historical inaccuracy)
  • CATCH-UP.md L159: "Renamed from sonic-sounds to Sonic Sounds (160 files changed)" → full rename chain: album-studio → sonic-studio → sonic-sounds → Sonic Sounds (final name)
  • CHANGELOG.md L12: corrupted with a stray BEL character (from the previous sed pass) → corrected to show the rename as a chain across commits 16f3218 + the final gh api rename
  • CHANGELOG.md L64: corrupted "created as sonic-sounds, renamed to sonic-sounds" (both sides of rename collapsed to the new name) → corrected to show full history: album-studio → sonic-studio (commit 16f3218) → sonic-sounds all on 2026-09-04

History preserved (per user direction)

  • The CHANGELOG mentions of album-studio and sonic-studio as historical rename steps are intentional.
  • .bak files in intake-data/ (gitignored historical schemas) keep their old names.
  • .snapshot.json files in intake-data/ (gitignored test fixtures) keep their old names.
  • The historical folder at ~/OneDrive/Hermes/Agents/planning/_sonic-sounds-history-2026-09-04/ is preserved out-of-repo.

URL verification

All GitHub repo URLs (in pyproject.toml, README.md, SECURITY.md, .github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md, CATCH-UP.md) point to the canonical URL:

Stale reference scan (zero hits in non-history files)

git grep -lIE 'album-studio|Album Studio|album_studio|sonic-studio|sonic_studio|Sonic Studio|SONIC_STUDIO_' -- ':!*.bak' ':!*.snapshot.json' ':!.bak/**' ':!archive/**'

No upgrade concerns

This release is purely a doc-cleanup release on top of v0.1.0. The code, dependencies, and behavior are identical.

Sonic Sounds v0.1.0

@LegendaryLionMan LegendaryLionMan released this 04 Sep 21:26

Sonic Sounds v0.1.0

First stable public release of Sonic Sounds, a local-first music-album design + production studio.

This is the clean, self-contained release. There are no upgrade concerns from v0.1.0 / v0.2.0 of the previous sonic-studio name — those releases were on a different content surface (303-file repo) and have been superseded by this drop.

What's in the box

Backend (Python 3.11)

  • Quart ASGI daemon on 127.0.0.1:8765.
  • SQLite at .meta/sonic-sounds.db with WAL mode.
  • 5 background sweepers (idle-pause, WAL checkpoint, quota snapshot, OneDrive mirror, log rotate).
  • 12-layer build pipeline (M1–M13 music + R14 release).

Frontend (plain JS + CSS)

  • Zero build step.
  • 6 themes in site/themes.css (Mixtape '85 default).
  • Header music player with cassette visual, 7-button transport, 15 keyboard shortcuts, sleep timer, A/B loop, playback speed, elapsed/remaining toggle, click-outside closing, shortcuts popover.

Run it

pip install -e .
python -m build.serve --port 8765
open http://127.0.0.1:8765/site/albums.html

Repo hygiene

  • LICENSE — MIT
  • SECURITY.md — vuln disclosure
  • CATCH-UP.md — LLM onboarding guide
  • .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/*.md + PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md

Historical noise (album artifacts, planning, prototype archives) is not in this repo — it lives at ~/OneDrive/Hermes/Agents/planning/_sonic-sounds-history-2026-09-04/ for reference.
