Hero's Of Twilight
🛡️ Hero's of Twilight — v1.9.5
Heroes of Twilight v1.9.5 focuses heavily on multiplayer reliability, shared gameplay, map improvements, player persistence, reporting tools, and overall quality-of-life improvements.
This update contains several important fixes and additions aimed at making Twilight Connected and Hyrule Online feel more stable and polished.
✨ WHAT'S NEW
❤️ Shared Consumable Pickups — Twilight Connected
Consumable pickups can now be shared between connected players.
Supported pickups include:
- Recovery Hearts
- Rupees
- Bombs
- Arrows
- Slingshot Seeds
When one player physically collects a supported pickup, the other connected player receives the corresponding item/effect as well.
This works as pickup-event sharing rather than constantly forcing both players' inventories to match.
Important progression-item sharing remains supported separately.
🗡️ Hidden Skill Sharing
Work was added to improve synchronization of Link's Hidden Skills between connected players.
The multiplayer system now better recognizes the individual Hidden Skills learned throughout the adventure instead of treating them like ordinary inventory items.
🗺️ Multiplayer Map Improvements
Player tracking on the Field Map and minimap received major improvements.
Remote players can now be represented using the custom Link multiplayer marker, making it much easier to identify another player while exploring Hyrule.
Map synchronization and player-position handling were also improved for warps, rooms, stages, and area transitions.
🐛 Improved Report Bug System
The in-game Report Bug feature has been expanded.
Reports can now provide much more useful information for troubleshooting multiplayer problems, with support added for attaching:
- PNG images
- JPG/JPEG images
- MP4 video
- MOV video
This should make reproducing and diagnosing bugs much easier.
🔧 WHAT'S FIXED
💰 Rupee Saving & Persistence
Fixed an issue where multiplayer-received Rupees could appear correctly during gameplay but not properly persist in the receiving player's saved wallet.
Shared Rupees now use the player's actual wallet capacity and save correctly.
🚪 Joining No Longer Forces You to the Host
Joining a Twilight Connected session no longer automatically teleports the joining player to the host.
Players can now connect while remaining at their own legitimate saved location.
Manual player teleporting remains available when you actually want to meet up.
💾 Player Location Preservation
Improved preservation of player return locations and related save information during multiplayer synchronization.
This helps prevent joining multiplayer from unexpectedly changing where a player should load or return.
🗺️ Map & Warp Recovery
Improved multiplayer map-marker recovery after:
- Warping
- Changing rooms
- Changing stages
- Entering different areas
- Loading new sections of Hyrule
The full Field Map now provides much more reliable remote-player tracking.
🎨 Mod Branding Fix
Fixed Heroes of Twilight resources so the proper mod icon and banner can remain included when rebuilding the project.
This prevents development builds from unintentionally losing the intended Heroes of Twilight branding.
⚙️ WHAT'S IMPROVED
🌐 Multiplayer Reliability
Several multiplayer systems were strengthened to better handle fast gameplay events and synchronization between players.
Consumable pickup synchronization includes duplicate protection so the same received event is not supposed to be applied repeatedly.
🧭 Player Tracking
Remote-player tracking now has better handling for different rooms, stages, load zones, and map states.
The multiplayer map system has also been prepared for more accurate cross-area tracking as development continues.
🧹 Internal Cleanup
Additional multiplayer code cleanup and diagnostics were added to make future bugs easier to identify and future Heroes of Twilight updates easier to maintain.
⚠️ KNOWN ISSUE
Some specific cross-stage minimap transitions — particularly certain Castle Town / Hyrule Field boundaries — may still temporarily display a remote player's marker incorrectly.
The full Field Map is considerably more reliable in these situations.
This remains an area of active development and is not considered completely solved in v1.9.5.
💚 Thank You
Thank you to everyone testing Heroes of Twilight, reporting bugs, sharing logs, and helping improve the multiplayer experience.
The goal remains the same:
Explore Hyrule together.
⚔️ Heroes of Twilight
💜 Special Thanks
A huge shoutout to Crest of Courage and Remiafterdark for their work, inspiration, and contributions to the Twilight Princess multiplayer community. Please show them some love and support their work as well!
Heroes of Twilight wouldn't be where it is without the incredible work and ideas coming from this community. ⚔️💚
Hero's Of Twilight v1.9.4
Hero's of Twilight v1.9.4
Heroes of Twilight is my multiplayer project for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
The biggest reason I started working on this project was simple: I wanted to be able to play Twilight Princess with my kids.
Twilight Princess has always been one of my favorite Zelda games, and being able to explore Hyrule together instead of playing separately is something I've wanted for a long time.
Heroes of Twilight would not exist without the work that came before it.
This project is based on Crests of Courage, originally created by remiafterdark (RemiAfterDark). Crests of Courage provided the multiplayer foundation that Heroes of Twilight grew from, and full credit belongs to Remi and the original contributors for that work.
Heroes of Twilight takes that foundation and continues building on it with my own ideas for playing Twilight Princess together with my family and the community.
What's New in v1.9.4
Hyrule Online
Hyrule Online continues to grow into a way for players to explore Hyrule together while still keeping their own individual adventure.
Players can see other heroes exploring the world without having to share story progress, inventory, saves, dungeon progression, or other permanent game progress.
Voice & Proximity Chat
Voice chat introduced in v1.9.3 continues to be part of Hyrule Online.
Players can talk to other heroes while playing, with Proximity Mode allowing voices to react to the distance between players.
Walk away from another player and their voice becomes quieter. Move back toward them and their voice becomes louder again.
Voice chat includes controls for:
- Voice Chat On/Off
- Proximity Mode
- Adjustable Proximity Range
- Microphone controls
- Microphone volume
- Other Player volume
- Microphone mute controls
- In-game speaking indicators
Hyrule Online text chat is still available alongside voice chat.
Remote Player Collision
Hyrule Online now includes an option for Remote Player Collision.
Players who want a more physical multiplayer experience can enable collision with other heroes.
Players who prefer the original non-collision behavior can simply leave it disabled.
Player vs Player (PvP)
PvP is being added to Hyrule Online as an optional feature.
PvP is designed around player choice.
You decide whether you want to participate.
If you are doing a speedrun, randomizer, challenge run, or simply don't want other players attacking you, you can keep PvP turned OFF and continue exploring Hyrule Online normally.
Players who want to fight each other can enable PvP and battle other participating heroes.
PvP does not turn Hyrule Online into shared-progression multiplayer. Your save, inventory, story progress and other permanent adventure data remain your own.
Hyrule Hide & Seek
v1.9.4 also begins bringing Hyrule Hide & Seek into Heroes of Twilight.
This feature is inspired by and based on the Hyrule Hide & Seek project by i12bp8.
Instead of simply adding a basic Hide & Seek toggle, the goal is to bring over the actual game-mode experience, including things such as:
- Hiders and Hunters
- Multiplayer rounds
- Hiding time
- Round timers
- Maps and arenas
- Props and disguises
- Decoys
- Decoy swapping
- Taunts
- Clues and tracking
- Hunter penalties
- Scoring
- Round results
- Rules and game settings
Hide & Seek is being integrated as its own multiplayer game mode rather than replacing normal Twilight Connected or Hyrule Online gameplay.
Improvements & Fixes
v1.9.4 also continues improving the multiplayer experience while protecting features that already work.
Existing features such as:
- Hyrule Online player visibility
- Player movement and animations
- Human/Wolf transformations
- Custom player models and skins
- Player colors
- Hyrule Online text chat
- Voice and proximity chat
- Hero counters
- Heroes In This Area
- Twilight Connected
- Customization
- Player controls
are intended to remain available alongside the new features.
The custom Heroes of Twilight icon and banner artwork have also been restored for this release.
Why I Made Heroes of Twilight
I'm not trying to claim the original multiplayer work as my own.
I started Heroes of Twilight because I love Twilight Princess and wanted something I could sit down and play together with my kids.
What started as wanting to play one of my favorite Zelda games together has slowly turned into something much bigger.
I also wanted to experiment with ideas such as Hyrule Online, proximity voice chat, PvP, collision, Hide & Seek, customization and other ways of making Hyrule feel like a world that multiple people can experience together.
If other families, friends and Zelda fans get to enjoy it too, that makes the project even more worthwhile to me.
