🚀 Running Head 2.1.0

An update is on the way, bringing a host of new features, including structural improvements, new functionalities, and significant usability enhancements.

Here are the highlights of what's new in Running Head 2.1.0:

✨ New Features and Improvements

🛠️ "Custom Fields" and Properties System

  • Visual Limit in Lists: Implemented a visual limit for long list items in the header. Extensive properties now feature a simple, elegant "..." button using native icons from the Lucide package.
  • Link Support: Full rendering of Markdown-formatted links ([text](url)) and raw URLs directly within properties, making them clickable in the note header!
  • Empty Arrays: Bug fixes to ensure empty arrays in the frontmatter are properly ignored.

📑 The New Tab System

  • Complete Restructuring: The tab navigation system has been fully restructured and unified, ensuring greater robustness and easier configuration.
  • Clean Look: Improved styling with the removal of unsightly underlines when viewed in Reading Mode.
  • Safe Migration: Internal routine to safely clean up old, obsolete settings related to the pre-update tab configuration mode (tabsProperties).

🎨 UI/UX Adjustments and Styling (CSS)

  • New CSS Architecture (Structural): The old monolithic CSS file has been broken down and migrated to a modern architecture based on partial modules via esbuild.
  • Native Modals: Additional settings and modals have been rewritten to use native Obsidian classes (mod-settings), providing better alignment, greater consistency, and excellent spacing on mobile devices.
  • Accessibility: Automatic contrast adjustment for custom colors when the user is in light mode. - Multi-Window Support: Fixed rendering and support for multiple windows (using activeDocument).
  • Title Management: A new option to hide the document's first H1, preventing on-screen duplication for users who already employ title synchronization plugins.
  • Notice Panel: Added a new notice panel, integrated directly into the plugin, to notify users of important structural updates without cluttering the header.

🌍 Language Improvements

  • UX Focus: All text has been reviewed, standardized, and improved in accordance with the official Obsidian UX guidelines.

⚙️ Under the Hood (Compiler & TypeScript)

  • Optimized Build: Enhanced build pipeline featuring true hot-reload support, TypeScript Strict Mode enabled, and the target raised to ES2022.
  • Code Modularization: Previously monolithic code (such as Modals and main Settings) has been broken down into multiple focused sub-modules, making future maintenance easier.
  • Revamped Documentation: All technical documentation and READMEs (across all languages) have been updated.

Note

Since the Tab Navigation system has been completely rewritten, you will need to reconfigure your groups and links if you were using the previous version of this feature. The plugin's panels include brief explanations on how to use the new feature to assist with the setup process.

Thank you to everyone who submitted reports and suggested new features. Running Head continues to evolve thanks to you. ❤️
