exec-ctrl v2 is available as an MIT-licensed public preview. Give an agent its task and the repository link; it reads the compact activation contract, inspects the target, selects relevant controls and follows them through implementation, verification and handoff.

Use it

Fix the checkout retry bug. Use https://github.com/LeiterConsulting/exec-ctrl

For a fixed revision, use https://github.com/LeiterConsulting/exec-ctrl/tree/v2.0.0-preview.5. Retrieve START_HERE.md and selected modules from that same revision. No plugin, installer or target document pack is required. Agents must disclose inaccessible instructions instead of claiming activation.

What is included

  • Ten selective modules covering policy, Git, correctness, security, troubleshooting, architecture, documentation, delivery, team workflows and enterprise rules.
  • Proportionate inline/task/initiative/project modes, session checkpoints, task playbooks and mappings to existing team records.
  • Optional Python 3.10+ stdlib helper: offline, read-only routing, pending records, explicit-file snapshots and typed evidence/policy gates. Record content is never executed.
  • Reproducible failure/repair and release scenarios: stale inputs, wrong staged artifacts despite successful responses, verified artifact rollback, unavailable policy, inert metadata and required review holds.
  • Controlled real-project feedback from an isolated Go availability-summary repair, with existing dirty work preserved and author review identified honestly.
  • New repository validation that rejects stale README/newest changelog versions; clear current-main guidance and the owner-selected MIT license.

Verification

  • PR #6 merged at 8f0117cf3e36975874a0b96853476391b0f115df. Its tree matches tested candidate b9aeb673c7b3dcd4e6d590ed51354962671b1602 (tree 76d6b23c4114590e7614b268ea06cc1f7d9041a2).
  • PR CI, candidate push CI, merged main CI and tag CI all succeeded. Each of their four Windows/Linux Python 3.10/3.13 jobs passed all 114 tests without skips.
  • Local Windows/Python 3.13.7: 114 discovered, 112 passed, two symlink-creation skips. Validation checks ten modules and 307 supported local links. Activation remains 1,264 words; git diff --check passed.
  • The public tag source ZIP was downloaded and verified: all 177 files match canonical Git bytes by SHA-256. Extracted validation and the full suite passed (112 passes, the same two local host skips). Comparison explicitly disabled local archive CRLF conversion; no source differences remained.

The publication record and test guide describe reproductions, scope and limits. The two new stale-metadata cases failed before the repair and now pass.

Migration and limits

Schema 1 and the existing CLI/snapshot formats remain unchanged. Active records declare an exact framework version: review new controls, regenerate with preview 5 and recheck current evidence. Preserve historical records/helpers. Use main for current updates; the older v2 branch remains historical.

This is a preview for scoped project use. Independent task-plus-link adoption across IDEs, real organization policy/scanner integration, external connector writes, independent approval and production/customer acceptance remain open field gates. The helper checks structure and declared evidence; it cannot establish semantic truth, authenticate an approver or enforce host permissions. See field trials.
