ShelfDock 0.5.0

ShelfDock 0.5.0 adds a quiet Received workspace and optional update controls. The public app is now ShelfDock; the personal edition is LexBridge. Existing settings, saved machines and history keep their compatible data location across the rename.

Remote service forwarding now treats the entered address from the selected machine’s perspective. localhost:8000 reaches that machine’s localhost; a LAN address reaches its network. Go checks the forwarded service and opens the default browser. Automatic local ports start at the service port and increment when occupied; privileged web ports use 8080/8443. Advanced offers an exact custom local port. The live URL can be copied and Stop releases the connection.

A four-step, skippable first-run tutorial introduces the shelf without enabling tools or starting actions; Settings offers replay and a feature guide. Final functional fixes also cover corrupt update-download recovery, durable settings saves and closed-disclosure keyboard focus.

See what arrived

Received shows Desktop batches sent by ShelfDock/LexBridge 0.5 or newer, with item names and an unread indicator. Open the destination folder, mark a batch seen, or place selected items on the Transfers shelf when you want to send them onward. New arrivals do not open a window, execute files, or copy anything to your clipboard.

Sent retains the destination, item names and result of a transfer. Delivery means the files arrived; it does not mean another person has read them. Transfers and Received are available even while Clipboard tools are disabled.

The receiving app can discover a delivered batch after it is reopened. Discovery covers the OS Desktop, including redirected Windows Desktops. Older transfers and custom destination folders are not automatically indexed. Both apps need version 0.5 or newer for the new receipt workflow.

Choose how updates work

Open Settings → Updates to check explicitly. Automatic checks and background downloads start off and can be enabled separately. You can leave the panel while a download runs, cancel it, or retry a failed download. Package metadata, size and SHA-256 are verified before installation.

Installation takes two deliberate actions: Install update…, then Restart and install after reviewing the destination. Active transfers and other guarded operations prevent installation. Supported writable portable installations keep an adjacent backup and recover from failed replacement or launch-command errors. Protected or unsupported locations offer a manual update path.

The personal LexBridge edition has its own private feed and requires an existing authenticated GitHub CLI session on the device. It does not query or fall back to ShelfDock releases, and the app does not store a GitHub token. Public and personal editions keep separate update consent and caches.

A shelf and clipboard that stay under your control

Compact, Balanced and Expanded retain the same lavender/purple design and closed device details. Clipboard tools remain hidden and off until enabled in Settings; automatic recording is a separate choice. The local clipboard manager supports search, favourites, snippets and copy actions without automatically synchronizing your clipboard to other machines.

Existing multi-item/multi-machine transfers, precise drag/drop, the deliberate shake show/hide gesture, shelf Undo, configuration import/export and the small remote-service URL bar remain available. A saved service can be opened from its machine's site button, with advanced forwarding options, live status, Stop and history when needed.

Checks and preview limits

• 311 automated Node checks passed without skips, including a real trusted OpenSSH/SCP loopback delivery into a second controller, receipt validation, update-feed separation, cancellation and updater replacement/recovery against temporary fixture applications.
• Headless UI checks passed for transfers, machine actions, forwarding, shelf Undo, optional Clipboard, Mac installation review, Received and Updates across the three density modes.
• 67 representative rendered contrast checks passed, reusing the existing lavender, off-white, slate and purple palette with green/amber status accents. This is targeted checking, not a complete accessibility certification.
• Grok 4.7 contributed design review and routine compilation/packaging; the observed backing model was grok-4.7-build. Source tests and artifact verification are independent of that review.

This is an unsigned preview targeting macOS ARM64, Windows x64, and Linux ARM64/x64. Native macOS has the strongest local evidence. Windows/Linux packages are cross-builds: native desktop behavior, Windows PowerShell update execution and Linux desktop relaunch still need device validation. An actual future-version Mac update and real remote-Mac installation also remain separate tests. The Mac installation convenience applies only to compatible Macs with existing trusted SSH access.

Operating-system signing and security prompts remain in effect. SHA-256 verification establishes package integrity, not code signing. The updater can roll back a failed replacement or launch command, but it cannot automatically recover an application that starts and later crashes. Clipboard contents are not automatically synchronized; configuration exports exclude clipboard data, passwords and private keys, but their machine addresses and usernames should still be reviewed before sharing.

Choose packages from this release's assets and compare them with the accompanying checksum manifest. For all preview versions, use the Releases page. Public source visibility does not grant an open-source license; the package remains UNLICENSED.

Live forwarding evidence: production tunnels to an existing trusted Mac passed with remote 8000 → local 8001 while local 8000 was occupied, and remote 80 → local 8080. Both returned the remote HTTP response and Stop released their listeners. No real browser was opened during background testing.

DropHarbor 0.4.2

DropHarbor 0.4.2 — optional Clipboard and clear machine actions

Changes in 0.4.2:

• The default website connection reads Remote service and opens the selected machine’s service on this computer. Exact Local/Remote SSH directions remain in Advanced.
• Clipboard is off and its tab is hidden until enabled in Settings. Upgrading from 0.4.1 or earlier requires a fresh choice once. Saved encrypted items remain intact; recording is a separate opt-in. Manual shelf paste still works.
• On Mac, Machines → ⋯ → Install on this device… replaces the Settings install action. The dialog explains Mac-only support and fixes the selected destination. Check Mac validates OS/processor/existing app before destination review and an explicit install. Existing apps are not overwritten.
• Expanded machine details stay collapsed. The original soft lavender palette, gestures, shortcuts and shelf transfers remain in place.

Downloads: macOS Apple Silicon app ZIP, Windows x64 portable EXE, Linux ARM64 archive and Linux x64 archive. Extract the archive before opening the app. Use the attached SHA256SUMS.txt to verify downloads.

Verified: 213 Node tests; machine/forwarding UI, 11 Clipboard groups, Mac installer and optional-tools checks across three densities; 67 rendered contrast checks. Grok 4.7 reviewed the UX and ran renderer/packaging commands. All eight edition/platform packages were independently inspected for version, exact source/renderer, runtime dependencies, archive integrity and CPU architecture, including the Windows EXE payload. Both packaged Mac apps pass source-bundle validation for the installer. Uploaded asset checksums are verified before publication.

Limits: unsigned, private test prerelease. Windows/Linux packages are cross-built, not natively desktop-tested. No real remote Mac was installed during this update. The existing SSH forwarding implementation is unchanged; previous real-host evidence is documented in VERIFICATION.md.

The clean edition includes an example importable configuration and release-commit source archive, with no personal machine preset.

DropHarbor 0.4.1

DropHarbor is the clean edition, without personal machine routes. The repository remains private during testing.

Version 0.4.1 restores the original soft lavender, off-white, slate and purple palette, with clearer secondary text, calmer shadows and visible control boundaries. Grok 4.7 reviewed the palette; its opinion informed the changes, while rendered contrast and interaction checks are verified separately.

• Compact, Balanced and Expanded remain available, with existing shortcuts, deliberate shake toggle, quick connections, ordinary transfers and shelf Undo preserved. Expanded now keeps machine details and forwarding controls closed until requested. A per-machine Details disclosure reveals recent transfers; the globe or connection menu opens only the selected host’s URL bar. Advanced starts closed, and returning to Expanded does not reopen device details.
• Clipboard tools are optional in Settings and disabled on new installations. Enabling tools does not turn on automatic history. Show Clipboard tab controls visibility independently and clearly explains that hiding does not pause already-enabled recording.
• Disabling Clipboard tools stops recording, blocks native history actions and keeps saved entries. Re-enabling requires a fresh recording opt-in. A valid existing opt-in is preserved during migration; missing or corrupt tools preferences fail closed. Explicit shelf paste remains available. Clipboard preferences, consent, data and credentials stay out of configuration exports.
• Install on another Mac is available from a packaged Mac app to an existing saved SSH host with the same architecture. Check Mac presents an account, address, version and destination review before explicit confirmation. A personal bundle requires separate acknowledgement of its included machine preset. The installer verifies the upload, refuses existing destinations and leaves the receiving app closed; it does not copy the sender's profile or enable SSH.

Validation: 212 automated Node tests passed, together with headless machine/quick-connect, optional Clipboard and Mac-installer UI flows across all three density modes. The final palette check passed 67 representative rendered contrast measurements. These checks use fictional fixtures and are not a whole-app accessibility certification.

Grok 4.7 performed the eight clean/personal package builds; actual response metadata identifies grok-4.7-build. Independent verification confirmed source/renderer/version equality, required runtime dependency closure, isolated network-disabled SSH/key/bcrypt/scheduler smoke checks, archive integrity, architecture and correct edition contents for all eight packages. Both Windows portable EXEs were extracted without execution and their actual x64 payloads and all 29 unpacked dependency files matched the verified builds. Read-only MacInstaller.source() checks also accepted both real packaged Mac bundles, including their Electron symlinks, ARM64 executable, version and preset presence. Clean and personal source ZIPs match every tracked file from the frozen commits. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the local release assets.

No real remote Mac installation was performed. Installer shell and race/error behavior were tested only against scratch fixtures with fake SSH and non-running miniature bundles. Interrupted installations may leave a private staging folder for manual inspection; automatic recovery across a crash is not provided. Native Windows/Linux desktop validation remains outstanding. Prior v0.4.0 real-host forwarding evidence is not represented as a fresh v0.4.1 live-host test.

Install: extract the macOS ZIP and use the .app; Windows x64 is a portable EXE; extract the Linux ARM64 or x64 archive and run the included executable. Quit an older version before replacing it. The update is intended to retain existing application data and preferences. The Mac-to-Mac convenience installs only into the saved account's ~/Applications and refuses to replace an existing app; use the regular package for a manual update.

These are unsigned private test releases. Native Windows/Linux desktop interaction still needs device validation. Linux Wayland uses shortcut/tray access instead of cursor shake. Website scheme/path preferences stay on the device and are not yet part of portable configuration exports. This release does not add OCR, direct paste into other apps, automatic clipboard sync, mobile clients, remote SSH-server setup or automatic updates.

Authentication supports existing trusted key/agent access, one-time password-to-key setup, and explicitly saved encrypted passwords. The target must already provide trusted SSH access. Public distribution still needs signing, native validation and the owner's release decisions.

Palette, workflow notes and screenshots

Uploaded-asset verification: all seven GitHub files in this edition matched their local SHA-256 checksums before publication, and repository privacy was verified. Both product editions remain private test prereleases.

Validation: 175 automated tests, headless tests across all three modes, and a real Tailscale SSH forwarding connect/stop/repeat workflow passed. All eight release packages are checked for source/renderer/version, architecture, archive integrity, correct edition contents, and the complete required runtime dependency tree. Extracted packaged SSH code also passes an isolated, network-disabled check of SSH2 loading, synthetic key parsing and bcrypt key derivation. Windows portable payloads are inspected without execution. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the downloadable assets.

Source and design screenshots

The corrected personal macOS edition was installed from the verified package and started in the background. Exactly one worker responded to the non-showing health check, no app window appeared, and saved settings, shelf, routes and protected state were preserved. The previous app and complete profile were privately backed up and verified before replacement.

Clipboard and Transfers now have equally prominent workspaces. Clipboard adds opt-in encrypted local history, search/filter, favourites, snippets, safe previews, original/plain-text copy, pause and retention controls, and Add to Transfers without automatically sending.

Machine Access supports existing keys, a one-time password to install and verify a dedicated SSH public key, or an OS-encrypted saved password. SSH must already be enabled/reachable and its host key verified. Background checks do not try saved passwords.

Select multiple items and machines, review the recipients, and send to up to 20 destinations with two concurrent transfers and separate receipts. Direct drops still target one machine. More deliberate is the new default gesture sensitivity.

Right-click a machine for local → or remote ← SSH port forwarding. Enter the destination and listening ports, start/stop owned sessions, and optionally save repeatable plans with notes in History. Listeners are loopback-only, remote binding is verified, and saved plans never restart automatically.

Clear shelf now offers a 10-second Undo. Cleared notes and clipboard images remain recoverable during that window, and Undo preserves items added after clearing.

Grok 4.6 performed source reviews and public-web feature research; routine compilation was delegated through a restricted build-only script. Packages and uploaded checksums are independently verified before publication.

The interface now uses the lexilominite.com palette: deep teal #02161A, electric cyan #27E1FA, yellow #FAE127, and light text. The native window and browser theme colour match the canvas.

The existing gesture toggle, single-worker protection, explicit clipboard capture, configuration import/export, and three view modes are preserved.

83 automated tests and the production build passed. Headless browser checks covered the palette, Settings, and all three view sizes. All platform archives are checked against the committed source and renderer, with SHA-256 manifests.
