This is a Beta Build! There may be unexpected bugs.

Changes:

  • Update kernel from 4.4 to 4.19 with kernel adaptions and performance tunings (results in generally faster and smoother performance than kernel 4.4 ROMs)
  • Update to more modern graphics stack (ASUS 4.19-kernel) and plumbing (Gralloc4/Mapper 4.0)
  • Change speed key function to CTRL key
  • Fix permission blocking when enabling "Personalized suggestions" in official Blackberry Keyboard app (Re-install Blackberry Keyboard may be required)
  • Restore some missing NFC configurations from stock BB Android (fixes NFC functionality in some cases)
  • Change "Keyboard touchpad" QS tile to "Keyboard scrolling" with new icon, change its function to enable/disable keyboard scrolling (instead of enable/disable touchpad) - allows disabling keyboard scrolling while keeping touchpad functionality for keyboard gestures and backlight activation
  • Long pressing "Keyboard scrolling" QS tile launches Settings/System/Blackberry keyboard
  • Settings/System/Blackberry keyboard: Add "Enable keyboard touchpad" toggle, add "Light on keyboard touch" options (with "only light on press" enabled) to keyboard/button backlight settings
  • FIXED: UI element highlighting and yellow borders in some apps when touching keyboard
  • Decrease ZRAM from 3 GB to 2.5 GB
  • Add separate OTA update URL for 4.19 kernel ROMs (kernel 4.4 ROMs will not receive OTA update to kernel 4.19 ROMs yet)

Notes:

  • If you are using adoptable/internal SD storage on kernel 4.4 ROM (v1.10a-v1.11a): Before updating to v1.20b+, migrate/backup all apps/files from the SD card, format the SD card as normal/portable storage, then repeat formatting as adoptable/internal storage after updating to v1.20b+
  • Default ZRAM compression changed to LZ4 in kernel, but if you had previously forced a compression algorithm with persist.vendor.key2.zram.compressor, that manual override will persist. It is recommended to switch to LZ4 - see last section below.

Known Issues:

  • Haptic vibration weaker than kernel 4.4 ROMs
  • BB Hub Inbox missing notification actions, BB Notes crash, possibly other BB Hub app issues - will be fixed on v1.20c
  • Some users experience ghost Recents input spamming on kernel 4.19 - under investigation

Update Instructions:

  • You cannot update to this ROM if you are running a Krab-v1.20+ or Krab-2.0+ build unless you wipe userdata
  • If you are running ZKrab Key2 ROM from v1.9a-v1.11a: Download "lineage-22.2-20260907-UNOFFICIAL-zkrab-v1.20b-athena.zip" to your Key2 and perform local update through Settings/System/System updates/3-dot menu/Local update - Userdata wipe NOT needed!
    • You can return to v1.11a (kernel 4.4) with the same method if you experience issues with this build (again no userdata wipe needed)
  • If you are currently running stock Blackberry Android 8.1 or an older LineageOS version, download "LOS22_Key2_ZKrab-v1.9a.zip" to your PC and follow this guide for install instructions: https://daphnis-past-midnight.nekoweb.org/wiki/key2.html

Choose ZRAM Compression Algorithm

  • To switch to lz4 compression (other options are lzo and zstd, but lz4 is recommended):
    adb root
    adb shell setprop persist.vendor.key2.zram.compressor lz4
    adb reboot
    (after reboot confirm change with:)
    adb root
    adb shell cat /sys/block/zram0/comp_algorithm
