Installation Guide

The 2nd Gen of LingmoOS "Yaksha" ( LingmoNix 2 ) is now rebuilt as the set of configurations and optional dotfiles.
There're 2 methods to install LingmoOS through NixOS.

  1. Installing as single boot

    • Prepare a 4GB bootable device and a host with at least 64GB storage. The version of the NixOS you used is better up from 22.11

    • Boot the device and active wpa_supplicant systemd unit with the command

      sudo systemctl start wpa_supplicant
    • Run wpa_cli to enter the network manager cli environment, then connect your wireless network.

      Caution:
      For server users / users who use a machine which using ethernet: If the machine connects an ethernet, just check whether the device has been activated through ip link .

    • Run the command below:

      curl https://lingmoos-testing.github.io/LingmoNix-Starter/ > install.sh && sudo bash install.sh
    • PS. If the command above did not work, then run this command below:

      curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LingmoOS-Testing/LingmoNix-Starter/refs/heads/main/index.html | bash

      Notice:
      The repository that installer clones is a starter repository, instead of source code. (Just the Nixpkgs)

    • Reboot, done!

  2. Installing by NixOS
    If you have installed NixOS on the machine. Just switch the configuration can you have a beautiful experience on LingmoOS! Run the command.

    just switch

Basic Use

Visit the site of Chapter 8.3 Main Commands, Nix 2.24, Nix Reference Maunal.

Optional Dotfiles

There're some awesome dotfiles we recommanded to install to beautification.
Run this command to switch the dotfiles:

just dotfiles switch

Vim

Source: amix/vimrc

Neovim

CutefishDE

Caution: Now is the experimental features that has been enabled in LingmoNix. It's Optional in Yaksha and only for LingmoNix General now.

Hyprland

Caution:
In LingmoNix 2 "Yaksha", the Hyprland WM now can be enabled in configuration.nix with the 2 options below:
{ services.xserver.windowManager.hypr.enable = true;}
and
{ programs.hyprland.enable = true; }

Just

Caution:
Just is a command runner, and you need to install just to use this file to simplify the commands.
In LingmoNix 2, Justfile has rmed the unused command yaksha-ci for the "full system upgrade".

System Upgrade

  • Run the command to pull the latest source code of the repository:
just yaksha-upgrade
  • If the NixOS has been upgraded to the latest, run this command first before upgrading system.
just channels-switch
