v0.0.5
DSH Sidebar v0.0.5
Compatibility
This release adapts DSH Sidebar to the new DeepSeek Harness Remote protocol. It requires DSH 0.1.2-rc.1 or a compatible newer release and has been tested with 0.1.5-rc.1 (latest). DSH 0.1.1 and earlier are no longer supported by this extension release.
Update your local runtime before using this version:
npm install -g @deepseek-ai/dsh@latestWhat's new
- Support for the new authenticated DSH connection, event streams, session history, approvals, and follow-up questions.
- Reconnect to an existing runtime without restarting it or resending tasks. Queued messages, pending approvals, and background tasks are restored after reconnecting.
- Connect to an authenticated external runtime, or explicitly start a managed runtime.
- A session center for finding and switching conversations, with per-session drafts and attachments.
- Paste images directly from the clipboard, with sending delayed until pending image imports finish.
- Markdown tables and mathematical formulas now render in chat.
- Improved Permission, Plan, model, reasoning effort, and Agent preset synchronization, plus runtime plugin inventory and settings conflict protection.
Fixes and safeguards
- Restore tool result cards and native file review with the new DSH history format.
- Prevent runtime or workspace changes from interrupting background tasks.
- Discard unfinished response fragments after terminal connection failures and retry canceled attachment loads after reconnecting.
- Allow manual reconnects to tokenless reused runtimes without attempting token authentication.
Validation
- Typecheck and build passed; 506 automated tests passed, 1 skipped.
- Ubuntu and Windows CI passed for the compatibility changes.
- Real global DSH smoke tests covered streaming chat, history, images, slash commands, approvals, questions, queues, settings, and reconnects.
- Native VS Code tests covered debugger breakpoints, stepping, runtime values, file edits, Diff Editor, and background jobs.
Runtime integration tests used a local deterministic model endpoint; no paid model requests were made.
v0.0.4
Highlights
Native VS Code debugging
DeepSeek Harness can now use VS Code's debugger directly when Autonomous Debugging is enabled. The agent can launch a workspace debug configuration, manage breakpoints, step through execution, and inspect stack frames, scopes, and runtime values before fixing and verifying a bug.
Windows compatibility
Runtime and plugin launching now handle Windows command shims, PATHEXT resolution, workspace-relative executables, drive-letter paths, quoting, and process-tree cleanup more reliably. CI now covers Windows alongside the existing platforms.
Smoother long-running conversations
- Streaming responses stay pinned only while you are following the conversation tail.
- Loading older history preserves the current reading position.
- Completed debug launches remain visible and debug sessions are cleaned up with the runtime bridge.
- Unknown slash-prefixed text is preserved as a normal prompt instead of being rejected as a command.
Sidebar polish
- Image attachments respect the limits published by the active DSH runtime.
- Japanese documentation is now available.
- A compact Star button in the conversation toolbar links directly to the GitHub repository.

v0.0.3
Highlights
Windows launch fixed (#2, #9)
spawn EINVAL on sidebar start is resolved for every known install layout. npm installs run the real JS entry through Node directly; installs the extension cannot resolve (pnpm, yarn, volta, scoop) now route through cmd.exe /c with an extensionless dsh, so PATHEXT finds both dsh.cmd and dsh.exe shims. Explicit .cmd/.bat paths in settings — including forward-slash and workspace-relative ones — launch correctly.
Long output rendering
Tool and command output is now paged across the webview boundary instead of being posted wholesale: large bodies load on demand, chat messages render incrementally, and diff continuity is preserved across pages. Long transcripts stay responsive.
Runtime reuse
When no custom executable or arguments are configured, the sidebar reuses a healthy DSH Web runtime already listening on 127.0.0.1:3080 instead of spawning a second one (deepseekHarness.reuseExistingRuntime, on by default). A nested deepseek-harness source checkout still takes precedence.
New in the sidebar
- Usage and context meter
- Agent Preset selector
- Skills in the slash menu
- Problems can be sent as context
Reliability fixes from the pre-release review
- Running tools show live status and auto-expand again (the deferred copy dropped the
streamingflag). - Short answers with attached images no longer collapse into a "Show full response" button.
- Re-rendered deferred bodies keep receiving their loaded pages instead of hanging at "Loading output…".
- Streamed text can no longer be duplicated when an update and an append land in the same frame.
- A state patch the webview never received now triggers a full resend instead of a permanent desync.
commands/executeno longer sendsimages: []for commands run without attachments.- Session-mismatch tool-output errors reach the webview instead of timing out after 15 s.
dsh --versionis read after stdio closes, so--no-opendetection can no longer miss intermittently; the version parser also acceptsvprefixes and build metadata.
