Version 3.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@LoZazaMastro LoZazaMastro released this 27 Jul 09:44

This update makes surround upmix work for every track, removes the remaining start-up lag, and stops the music pausing over silent videos.

Fixes

  • ThemeDeck audio no longer goes silent when 7.1 upmix is enabled. The localhost audio stream now enters WebAudio with the required cross-origin mode. The player also keeps its native stereo output until a running multichannel context is available, so a blocked or unsupported WebAudio context can no longer mute ambient, Store or game music.
  • Music no longer stops for silent videos. Muted Store trailers and silent SteamGridDB animated artwork no longer pause the music. Playback is only interrupted by video that is actually producing sound (an unmuted trailer or the Big Picture startup movie), which still pauses and then resumes the music.

Version 3.2.0

@LoZazaMastro LoZazaMastro released this 20 Jul 11:54

This update makes the music editors feel cleaner, faster to browse, and more consistent across games, ambient music, and Store music.

What’s new

  • Improved performance and reduced resource usage — the plugin now performs less background work, uses fewer system resources, and feels smoother throughout Steam Gaming Mode.
  • YouTube searches now return up to 30 results, giving you 10 more choices without changing the download workflow.

Improvements

  • Download progress now appears directly below the track being downloaded.
  • Download, error, cleanup, and FFmpeg status messages are now translated in all 11 supported languages instead of falling back to English.

Fixes

  • Fixed gamepad focus making the Choose audio file and Search labels disappear on Ambient and Store pages.

Version 3.0.0

@LoZazaMastro LoZazaMastro released this 16 Jul 01:53

This update gives ThemeDeck a clearer, more focused interface, adds dedicated editors for every kind of music, and makes playback work more naturally alongside Now Playing and Steam UI videos.

What’s new

  • New redesigned full-screen editors for game music, ambient music, and Store music, each with local-file selection and YouTube search.
  • A new automatic-assignment exclusions list lets you choose which games should be skipped when ThemeDeck assigns missing tracks.
  • Dedicated ambient and Store editors let you search for any track without a pre-filled game title, then download and apply it directly.
  • ThemeDeck now recognizes the built-in Spotify and Your Music playback modes from Now Playing 2.0.0.

Improvements

  • The QAM has been reorganized into clear sections, colors and a cards layout system with consistent spacing, typography, focus states, and controller navigation.
  • The UI now uses compact minus and plus controls for volume and start skip, with a clear repeat action instead of sliders.
  • Game, ambient, and Store editors share the same centered redesigned local-file picker and a new navigation model.
  • YouTube search uses a compact loading indicator, cleaner result actions, and managed downloads that replace older ThemeDeck downloads automatically.
  • ThemeDeck pauses while Now Playing 2.0.0 is audible or while an audible Steam Store, Community, news, or activity video is playing.

Fixes

  • Steam Settings > Store can no longer be mistaken for the actual Steam Store and will not cause an ambient track stop or change the current track with the Store music.
  • Steam’s top bar and footer stay hidden throughout the game, ambient, and Store editor routes.
  • Four-direction gamepad focus now works across Selected, local files, YouTube search, results, repeat, volume, and start-skip controls.

Install or update

You can update ThemeDeck from the Playhub Plugin Store in the Playhub app.
You can also download ThemeDeck-Playhub_Installer-3.0.0.zip below and install it through Decky Loader developer mode.

Existing track assignments and every local file you selected are preserved.

ThemeDeck 3.0.0 is the Windows edition of ThemeDeck and includes the Windows tools required for YouTube audio downloads and local playback. For this reason it doesn't work on Linux.

Version 2.6.0

@LoZazaMastro LoZazaMastro released this 25 Jun 14:30

What's new

  • Redesigned the "ThemeDeck for YouTube" page: search results now appear as a navigable list instead of a grid, with Preview and Download buttons placed on the right of each result.
  • Added a new "Choose an audio file" local browser with proper folder icons, music icons on audio files and a working "up" button that also handles Windows paths.
  • Added a "Delete unused tracks" button to the Decky quick access menu that physically removes tracks ThemeDeck downloaded but no longer uses, while leaving audio files you picked from your own folders untouched.
  • Added a 15-minute cap on YouTube downloads during Assign missing, so oversized soundtracks can no longer quietly fill up storage.

Improvements

  • The Steam options menu now closes automatically when you open the ThemeDeck for YouTube page, instead of staying open until dismissed by hand.
  • Removed the redundant buttons and redesigned some part of UI.
