Zombies Declassified Beta 2

Fresh install, not a patch on Beta 1.

Highlights

  • Installer. One download, ZombiesDeclassified-Updater.exe. It finds Plutonium and Black Ops II, fetches and verifies every file, and cleans up Beta 1.
  • Proper usermaps. Every map is its own usermap with its own zone, sounds and scripts. The old shared mod is gone.
  • Ray Gun Mark II in the box on every map.
  • Bug fixes on all nine maps, listed below.

Installing

  • Run the installer. It asks for the folders only if it cannot find them.
  • Beta 1 installed by hand? Run it anyway. Beta 1's files are replaced or removed, with backups.
  • Files at the pack's paths that are not from any Zombies Declassified release are listed by path; the installer asks before replacing them (answer Y). On the command line, update --force.
  • Re-run later to fetch only what changed. Replaced files stay under backups; verify reports anything off.
  • Do not copy the old zip's folders anywhere.
  • Linux, or no exe: python3 zdinstall.py --pluto <storage/t6 folder> --bo2 <Black Ops II folder> does the same job from the same manifest.

Co-op

  • Host and joiners must be on the same installer release. The game refuses mismatched files.
  • Client-side fixes come from the installer, not the join download.
  • Servers: docs/servers-beta2.md (launch line, cfg, refusal message).

Structure

  • Nine usermaps, each with zone, sounds and scripts. A slim menu mod remains in mods.
  • Solo Play lists the maps on the globe (it reroutes to Custom Games for now).
  • Non-English game languages get the character lines, announcer and power-up callouts.

Gameplay

All maps

  • AN-94 costs 1600 wherever sold.
  • Weapon lists corrected per map.

Verruckt

  • 25% brighter.
  • Intro card: Wittenau Sanatorium, Berlin, Germany, September 1945.
  • Thundergun removed.

Shi No Numa

  • Perk machines play the short sting on purchase.
  • Hellhounds audible at the original distances (also Der Riese).

Der Riese

  • Claymores no longer hurt their owner.

Kino der Toten

  • Nova crawler explosions no longer down you across the room. Standing in the blast at high rounds still hurts.
  • Nova crawler death: gas, burst and blur come together two seconds later and hit whoever stood next to it. Headshot kills release no gas.
  • Early nova crawlers wait for the curtains and for you to enter the foyer or dining room.

Five

  • Teleporting or riding an elevator stops spawns in the section you left.
  • Nova crawler improvements, including no gas on a headshot kill.
  • Electric traps zap once per second. Juggernog survives a pass; no Juggernog still dies.
  • The lobby no longer darkens after the power is on.

Ascension

  • 25% brighter.
  • Centrifuge: damage and rumble stop a second after it stops; it spins again later.
  • A crawler outside the map for 30 seconds is re-queued so the round can end.
  • Lander and Thundergun camo fixed.

Shangri-La

  • Monkeys and napalm zombies behave.
  • Crawler re-queue as on Ascension.
  • Slide speed pinned to the original's; the pool drop no longer downs you.
  • Grenade wall buy sells Semtex; you spawn with frags.
  • Spikemores fire when a zombie walks into them.

Moon

  • Area 51 perks on from the start.
  • Hacked wall buys give the reduced ammo price.
  • Nova crawlers give points on every kill.
  • R870 wall reads R870 MCS.
  • Gravity should behave the same at high frame rates.

Weapons

  • MP40: Black Ops II model, textures and animations on every map that carries it.
  • STG-44 (Verruckt, Shi No Numa, Der Riese): Black Ops II model, textures and animations; bolt seated, magazine moves, reload foley plays.
  • FAL OSW: reload audible; the EPC WN keeps its magazine while held.
  • M27 (Verruckt, Shi No Numa): winnable from the box with its full sound set, Pack-a-Punched too.
  • Monkey bombs (Shi No Numa, Der Riese, Five, Shangri-La): pull-pin and throw animate.
  • Wunderwaffe reload and raise: fresh animation compile.

Mystery box

  • Ray Gun Mark II on every map, with sounds, shown in the spin.
  • The spin shows only what the box can give: no Death Machine (Five, Moon), no dual Five-Sevens (Kino), no Galvaknuckles or Pack-a-Punched Ray Gun (Verruckt).

Menus and audio

  • Scoreboard shows each map's own logo.
  • Map select: descriptions for Five, Ascension, Shangri-La and Moon; new map art for Five, Shangri-La and Moon.
  • Mob of the Dead death song mixup removed.
  • Five window glass break restored (report it if still silent).
  • Footsteps at normal levels on all nine maps.
  • Box laugh is Samantha's.
  • Voice line remaps.
  • Pack sounds no longer bleed onto the retail zombies maps.

Known issues

  • Solo Play uses the Custom Games route rather than the game's own solo flow.
  • MP40 reload foley silent on Moon and Shangri-La.
  • Some weapons still lack reload and handling sounds their original banks never carried.
  • Der Riese windows are opaque.
  • Moon: zone crossings after the power is on can still hurt.

Reporting

Bug reports in the usual Discord threads, with a console log and screenshots. For installer problems, attach %LOCALAPPDATA%\ZombiesDeclassifiedUpdater\support-report.txt; the installer writes it on every run, even an interrupted one.
