FATX Bridge 0.2.0 Beta 3

FATX Bridge Beta 3 adds experimental original Xbox support alongside the existing Xbox 360 support.

What is new

• Detects already-unlocked original Xbox HDDs using the fixed C/E/X/Y/Z layout.
• Supports bounded XBPartitioner extended partitions and conservative legacy F/G detection.
• Detects original Xbox memory units exposed by Windows as whole physical devices, using the correct 4 KiB logical-sector geometry.
• Browses and mounts validated original Xbox partitions in File Explorer, read-only or with explicitly confirmed experimental write access.
• Uses the original Xbox 2000-based FATX timestamp encoding while preserving the Xbox 360 format.
• Adds malformed/out-of-range/overlapping partition-table safety checks.

Important original Xbox HDD limitation

FATX Bridge does not ATA-unlock original Xbox hard drives. The drive must already be unlocked before Windows can read it. Depending on your setup, unlocking may require the matching console EEPROM/HDD key and separate Xbox tooling. Make a backup before using write mode.

Original Xbox support remains experimental because a physical OG HDD was not available for this release's test pass. Hardware reports are welcome. The release was validated with 36 filesystem/layout tests plus an end-to-end packaged WinFsp test that detected and mounted a realistic 8 MB original Xbox memory-unit image, then verified reads, writes, file sizing, persistence, and file/directory deletion.

Installation

The Setup executable is the recommended download. It includes the self-contained app and installs the signed WinFsp runtime when needed. The installer itself is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show an Unknown publisher or SmartScreen warning.

Portable users must install WinFsp 2.1 separately. A separate .NET runtime is not required by either package.
