OpenBots Next is a native macOS app that turns Claude into a team of named teammates you hire, brief, and fence yourself, running on your own Claude Code CLI login. No API key, no accounts, no server, no telemetry; everything lives on your Mac.

What v1 does

v0.5.0 rebuilt the foundation. v1 brings the old app's abilities back on it, each behind an approval card you see before anything happens:

• Work on this Mac — a bot works in its own folder, writes files, and runs code; a script runs only after you approve its card, and Stop ends the whole process tree.
• The web — search and fetch, switched on per bot.
• Connectors — Apple Mail (read, and send as you), Messages, Contacts and Calendar (read-only), Apple Notes, Control Chrome, a browser through chrome-devtools-mcp, Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive (through a separate Google account you connect), and Control this Mac (through Peekaboo).
• Teams — bots hand work to each other in view, and a bot can hire a new teammate or a short-lived worker for one job.
• Per-bot switches — nothing is on until you turn it on for that bot.

Built to be checked

• 3,196 tests, no live calls — 640 XCTest + 2,556 Swift Testing, green in CI on macos-15 and macos-26. Recorded Claude Code runs replay the real wire format, so CLI drift shows up as a failing test.
• Zero Swift package dependencies — Swift 6, SwiftUI, AppKit and the system SQLite.
• Durable everything — messages, drafts, approvals and archives survive quit, reopen and crashes.

Before you install

• An Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 14+ (Control this Mac needs macOS 15), and full Xcode 16.3+ (Swift 6.1).
• Claude Code from Anthropic's native installer and a Claude Pro or Max plan. An API key, a Team or an Enterprise login is not accepted. OpenBots Next signs in to Claude with its own profile.
• For connectors, Node.js from Homebrew or nodejs.org.
• Google needs your own sign-in client, built into your copy: see the Google setup guide.
