What's New in v2.9.0

Your own tools in the sidebar, split view, and a toolbar on every tab.

Custom tools (new)

Any page you use can go in the sidebar. Your own hosted tool, a spreadsheet, a wiki page.

  • Add with one click. + Add Tool at the bottom of the sidebar, paste the address.
  • Name and icon come from the page. The same icon your browser shows on its tab.
  • Right click for options. Open in a tab, open in a window, edit, refresh the icon, remove.
  • Hide without deleting. Added tools appear in Settings → Appearance next to the built in buttons.
  • Kept with your settings, not in the client folder, so updates and reinstalls leave them alone.

Split view (new)

Two things on screen at once. A tool beside another tool, or the game beside a tool.

  • Split from the tab toolbar. Pick what to put beside the tab you are on.
  • Drag the middle border to give one side more room.
  • Lock a pair. The padlock freezes it, so clicking a third tab opens that tab on its own instead of pulling it into the split. Unlocked, the split follows whatever tab you click.
  • Marked in the tab bar. Both tabs show which side they are on, so you can tell at a glance.
  • Comes back on the next start, lock included.
  • Needs the width. If there isn't room the client widens the window, and hands that width back when the split closes.

Find in page (new)

  • Ctrl+F in any tab or window. It searches as you type.
  • Enter for the next match, Shift+Enter for the previous, Escape to close.
  • Match count sits next to the box.

Tab and window toolbar (new)

  • Back, forward and reload on every tab and every torn off window.
  • Keyboard and mouse too. F5, Ctrl+R, Alt+←, Alt+→ and the mouse side buttons.
  • The page title shows in the bar.

Game client sizing

  • Auto Sizing is the default now. The canvas follows the window instead of sitting at a fixed 1x, which matters more now that the game can share the screen with a tool.
  • Your own choice wins. If you have already picked 1x, 2x or 3x, that is left alone. This only fills the setting in when it was never set.

Interface

  • The four buttons at the top of the icon sidebar sit two by two instead of in a column, which gives back about 84 pixels before the first tool button.
  • The calculator icon was drawn smaller than the others because the image was mostly empty margin. Trimmed, so it matches.
  • The calculator button opens the system calculator on Linux and macOS too, not just Windows.
  • The Lost City Labs button is removed. The site is down and it only led to a dead page.

Notes

  • Custom tools are only touched when you use them. The icon is fetched once when you add the tool, and nothing checks them in the background or sends your list anywhere.
  • Settings are still shared by every LostKit install on the machine, custom tools included.
  • macOS has no installer. Clone the repo and run from source, as before.
