Streams
When you create a stream, a dialog box will ask you to name your encoder.
This name will be used to identify your stream on the private interface, it may be different from the name you want to display publicly to your listeners.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Auto-start this stream on software boot |
Allows the stream to start automatically when the software launches, without having to log in to the interface. |
Audio Device |
List of audio devices detected on the host machine. The terms in square brackets refer to the various audio engines (MME, WASAPI, etc.) |
Codec |
Available options: MP3, AAC-LC, AAC+ (HE-AAC V1), eAAC+ (HE-AAC V2), OGG Opus, OGG Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, MP2 |
Bitrate |
Allows you to set the audio quality of the stream. The higher the bitrate is, the better the quality will be. |
Sample Rate |
Refers to the number of sound measurements taken per second: the higher it is, the more accurate and faithful to the original the captured sound is. |
Bit Depth (Bits) |
Defines the precision with which each sound measurement is recorded: the higher the setting, the wider the dynamic range. |
Stereo / Mono |
Allows you to encode the audio stream in either Stereo or Mono. |
Gain (dB) |
Allows to increase or decrease the audio gain. To reduce the gain, use a negative value (e.g. -3.0). To increase it, simply indicate the value without any sign (e.g. 3.0). |
Audio Latency |
Adds a delay between sound capture and encoding. This feature is primarily useful for synchronizing one stream with another. |
Public Stream Name |
The name of the stream that will be visible to the listeners, sent through the metadata. |
Public Stream Description |
The description of the stream that will be visible to the listeners, sent through the metadata. This could be a slogan, for example. |
Genre |
The program type (e.g. Pop / Rock) that will be publicly displayed to the listeners via the metadata. |
This feature allows to send the name of the song that is currently aired, or any other text, such as a slogan.
By default, metadata is sent immediately. You can add a delay of several seconds in case the metadata is not sent in sync with the audio.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
Local Text File |
Retrieves the content of a text file located on the host machine. |
HTTP/HTTPS URL |
Retrieves the content of an HTTP or HTTPS page. By default, the update interval is set to 7 seconds to limit the number of requests per minute. |
POST function from automation software |
Retrieves content directly from your automation software using the POST function (Tested and working with RadioDJ, at least). When this option is selected, the settings you need to configure in your automation software are displayed to establish a connection with the encoder. |
Fixed Text |
When this option is selected, the user can send a static text message, such as a slogan, which can be configured via the interface. |
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Mount Point |
This setting is only required for broadcasting to an Icecast server. Indicates the name of your stream in the URL. Make sure to use a / before the name (e.g. /stream). |
Source Username |
This setting is only required for broadcasting to an Icecast server. The username, configured on your Icecast, that will be used to establish a connection between your stream and the server. Default is "source". |
Source Password |
This setting is only required for broadcasting to an Icecast server. The password, configured on your Icecast, that will be used to establish a connection between your stream and the server. |
Next to these three checkboxes, you'll see "Broadcast this stream to the following server(s)".
Select the server(s) to which you want to broadcast your stream. You can select multiple servers, provided you use the same mount point, username, and password on each of them.
Alert emails can be sent via the SMTP service in the event of an incident, so you're always kept informed in such situations.
Of course, you must have configured the SMTP service beforehand for these emails to be sent successfully.
• Send an email alert if the stream is silent
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Loss Threshold (dB) |
When the audio level is below this value, the stream is considered silent. |
Loss Timeout (seconds) |
Number of seconds before confirming that the stream is silent, which will trigger the sending of an email alert. |
Recovery Threshold (dB) |
When the audio level is above this value, the stream is considered to be functional again. |
Recovery Timeout (seconds) |
Number of seconds before confirming that the stream is functional again, which will trigger the sending of an email notifying of the restoration. |
• Send an email alert if one of the selected streaming servers is unreachable (Connection lost)
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Timeout before alert (seconds) |
Number of seconds to wait before sending an alert email. If the connection to the streaming server is restored before the specified number of seconds has elapsed, the alert email will not be sent. |
