ForkTTY 0.2.0-alpha.20

This alpha focuses on a calmer GTK workspace, safer worktree/session transactions, more reliable embedded Ghostty panes, and hardened local socket/package boundaries.

Highlights

  • Refined the workspace sidebar, titlebar, pane headers, Settings, Worktree manager, and optional Agent hooks flow while preserving the terminal-first layout and shortcuts.
  • Fixed tab and pane cleanup, per-widget Ghostty child PID tracking, failed split/tab rollback, persisted scrollback restore races, missing-worktree recovery, project-action rollback, remote PTY backpressure/EOF/signal handling, and worktree operation routing.
  • The .deb now carries ForkTTY's private libgtk4-layer-shell.so; packaging selects Ghostty outputs from the exact current Cargo build so stale or host-optimized libraries cannot leak into artifacts.
  • Release packaging is gated by both gtk-ghostty and browser-source CI, with tag/version validation before artifact construction.
  • Official CLI and hook clients authenticate the Unix-socket server with kernel SO_PEERCRED before sending data; the server also rejects unexpected peer UIDs, and runtime-directory validation is hardened against symlink redirection.
  • Corrected packaged license metadata and included complete notices for Ghostty shell integration, bash-preexec, and gtk4-layer-shell.

Downloads and support

The AppImage is the primary download for this alpha. The .deb targets Debian 13/Trixie+ and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS+. See the platform coverage grid for details.

For a source build, include the pinned Ghostty submodules:
