🪐 New name, same mission

OrbitOPL Toolbox is now OrbitPS2 Manager! Same app, same goal — just a name and a look that fit better going forward.

  • New app name, icon, and logo across the board.
  • Windows/macOS executables are now OrbitPS2Manager.exe / OrbitPS2Manager.app — if you're updating from an older build, grab the new files and delete the old ones.
  • Brand-new theme system: pick OrbitPS2 (Dark), OrbitPS2 (Light), OrbitPS2 (System) to follow your OS, or Legacy if you miss the previous look — all from Settings

✨ What's new

  • You can now convert .zso back to .iso, and VCD files back to .bin/.cue (if for whatever reason you want to do that, you do you ;D)
  • Refactored ISO ↔ ZSO conversion to run multithreaded, so batch conversions are noticeably faster
  • PS1 imports now accept a .zip containing the .cue + .bin(s)
  • Added RiptOPL/POPSLoader support for PS1 artwork
  • Fixed PS1 homebrew naming so unrecognized titles get sensible auto-assigned names (#34)
  • Fixed issue #38

🐛 Fixes

  • The "Update Available" banner now correctly ignores Alpha/Beta/RC/Indev pre-releases, so you won't get nagged about test builds

Changelog

v1.3.0

New Features

  • Artwork Manager Wizard — new bulk artwork dialog with preset configurations for downloading/assigning game artwork across your library (by @Luden02)
  • Skip existing artwork option in the bulk artwork wizard, so re-runs don't overwrite artwork you already have (by @Luden02)
  • Custom title bar — native window controls (min/max/close) replaced with an in-app title bar, including Linux-specific window manager detection and behavior fixes (by @Luden02)

Improvements

  • Title bar and window behavior fixes/adjustments for Linux systems by @PixeliGer in #32
  • Major internal refactor of the Electron main process: monolithic library.service.ts/main.ts/preload.ts split into dedicated ipc/ handlers and services/ modules (apps, artwork, delete, import, library, rename, settings, vmc, zso, window, etc.) for better maintainability, by @PixeliGer in #29

Chores

  • Code formatting and unused import cleanup (by @PixeliGer)

✨ What's New

This release adds a detail page for your games plus some important fixes for network shares and NAS setups. Thanks to everyone who reported issues and sent in code!

🎮 Game & App Details View

Click on any game or app in your library and you'll now get a dedicated details screen with all the relevant info in one place.
Right now the info is pulled from the .cfg but that needs to be handmade, cfg editor coming with phase 2!

Works for PS2 games, PS1 games, and apps alike.
Two layout options so you can view the details the way you prefer.
Huge thanks to German Emmanuel (@PixeliGer) who designed and built this whole feature in #25. 🙌

🐛 Fixes

Symlinked folders should work now! (NAS & network shares)

If your DVD, CD, or POPS folders were symlinks instead of real directories, OrbitOPL used to get confused and show nothing. This is common on NAS setups (like retronas) and SMB network shares. It now handles symlinked folders correctly, so your games show up like they should.
This bugfix needs more testing by someone who actually was a setup like this, thank you kindly!

Thanks to @heinzgruber (#11) and @zarprime (#20) for reporting these and helping track them down.

Faster library loading

Reading game info is now quicker, OrbitOPL no longer wastes time scanning the .cfg.bak backup files that OPL Manager leaves behind. (Also part of #25.)

Windows packaging fix

The Portable .exe file builder assumes you run the app on C: so it might not work for everyone.
We now offer 2 builds (Installer & Zip Portable).

⭐ Almost at 100 stars!

We're currently sitting at 78 stars on GitHub, which is honestly awesome for a project like this so thank you all so much!
We're now just 22 short of hitting 100, and it would mean the world to cross that line. If OrbitOPL Toolbox has made managing your PS2 collection even a little easier, please take a second to star the repo ⭐. It genuinely helps more people discover the project, and it keeps the motivation high for future updates. Let's get to 100 together! 🚀

🙏 Thanks to our contributors

OrbitOPL Toolbox keeps getting better thanks to the people who jump in and help. A big shout-out to German Emmanuel (@PixeliGer), James Bolton (@jayjaybeeuk), and Anthony E. (@anthoneous) for their contributions across recent releases, from new features to UI improvements. And thank you to everyone who's opened an issue, tested a fix, or shared feedback along the way. This project is better because of you. ❤️

v1.0.1 - hotfix

Choose a tag to compare

@Luden02 Luden02 released this 17 Jun 23:13

OrbitOPL v1.0.1

As the community slowly adopts OrbitOPL, I'm starting to receive all kinds of feedback and I want to make the experience as smooth as possible for everyone. So here's a quick patch, just 24 hours after v1.0.0. 🚀

✨ What's New

  • Lower minimum window size — reduced from 1280×720 to 800×600 to better accommodate sub-1080p screens.
  • Artwork jobs in the queue — artwork downloading and renaming now appear in the job queue.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Directory parser crash on missing folders — previously, mounting a folder that was missing subfolders (e.g. ART) would crash the parser and skip the game scan. Now, OrbitOPL will prompt you to either create the missing folders or unmount.

🙌 Special Thanks

Big thanks to everyone who shared feedback and helped me track down these issues:

🚀 OrbitOPL Toolbox – v0.2.3-beta (Bugfixing and PS1 Support)

@Luden02 Luden02 released this 14 Apr 23:22

Hello people!
I know, I know... a new patch this **quick? **
Well it happens that I make mistakes and it also happens that I have really useful users who point those mistakes to me. (Thanks VizoR)

What changed?

Well, the whole PS1 Import routine was busted and didn't actually work as intended when starting the game from OPL so I fixed it. (Wasn't actually working at all...)
I could test it only using a USB Stick and a MX4SIO memcard so If you are using an exfat hdd and it works please let me know (on discord).

What might not work?

Probably the PS1 GameART inside OPL, I know about that and I will fix it in the 0.2.4-beta that's coming in a couple days... (and maybe with other features)
If you have any other feedback or bugs you want to share feel free to open an issue here or contact me on Discord through the "PS2 Scene" or "ConsoleMods.org" Servers
