Routine-X is a full-stack gym calendar and client management app designed to make fitness planning, progress tracking, and client communication seamless for trainers, admins, and gym members. Born from the need to organize workouts, manage memberships, and foster a fitness community, Routine-X brings together scheduling, nutrition, and social features in one modern platform.
This project challenged me to build a robust, user-friendly system that supports real-world gym workflows, persistent data, and interactive features for both trainers and clients.
Routine-X runs on the MERN stack—MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js—with a focus on usability, security, and responsive design.
- Built with Node.js and Express
- RESTful endpoints for:
- User authentication (JWT-secured)
- Workout and nutrition post CRUD
- Membership and client management
- Community features (posts, comments, likes)
- MongoDB for persistent storage of users, workouts, posts, and more
- Middleware for role-based access (admin, trainer, client)
- Developed with React (functional components & hooks)
- React Router for navigation
- Modern, modular CSS for a clean UI
- Responsive layouts for desktop and mobile
- Accessible forms and navigation
- Real-time client messaging modal
Routine-X is built to grow. Here are some future directions:
- Progress Analytics: Visualize workout and nutrition trends
- Trainer Dashboards: Advanced tools for managing multiple clients
- Push Notifications: Reminders for workouts, renewals, and messages
- AI Recommendations: Smart workout and meal suggestions
- Social Features: Community challenges, forums, and meetups
- Workout and nutrition history views
- Dark mode toggle
- Enhanced chat with file/image sharing
- Group scheduling and class sign-ups
- Performance optimizations for large gyms
Routine-X is more than a calendar—it's a complete gym management and community platform. It’s intuitive, scalable, and designed for real fitness professionals and enthusiasts. Building it has deepened my skills in full-stack development, API design, and user experience.
And the journey is just beginning!
