Added: Docker-Marked Tests Now Run on Every Pull Request
The 8 tests in tests/test_docker_transports.py that actually start a container previously only ran in the release workflow, which triggers on a version tag, so a Docker runtime regression was caught after a release was already tagged rather than on the PR that caused it. Contributed by @tonydzi.
- A new
docker.ymlworkflow builds the image on every pull request using the same context, tag, and build cache the release workflow already trusts, then runs the 8 docker-marked tests against it. An internal skip-list keeps documentation-only and console-only PRs from paying for a build. - The image is explicitly asserted present before the tests run, since the test fixture silently skips rather than fails when the image is missing; without that assertion a renamed tag or a build that produced nothing would report a false green.
- This is item 1 of a larger Docker coverage audit; background workers, cross-process lease locks,
docker compose up, the glama image, and several runtime failure modes remain untested in a container and stay open.
Fixed: A Chunking Smoke Test That Passed Without Testing Anything
scripts/test-scripts/smoke_embedding_chunking.py had been broken since chunking was split into separate memory and document profiles: it imported constants that no longer existed and called _chunk_text without the keyword arguments it now requires. Contributed by @tonydzi.
- Beyond the rename, the script's long-body fixture was under the current chunking threshold, so
_chunk_textreturned nothing and every chunking assertion in the script passed vacuously rather than by exercising real behavior. The fixture is now sized to clear the threshold. - Two assertions still described the old fixed sliding-window chunker rather than the current even-split-with-padding behavior; both are rewritten to match, and verified against three deliberate mutations of the fix to confirm the new assertions actually fail when they should.
Upgrade Note
No action required. The Docker CI workflow only affects pull request checks; nothing in the published package changes.
