Open your terminal and enter the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dotnet/backports
Press Enter
sudo apt update
sudo apt install dotnet-sdk-6.0
sudo apt install dotnet-runtime-6.0
sudo apt install aspnetcore-runtime-6.0
You can validate they are installed with:
dotnet --list-runtimes
dotnet --list-sdks
Finally if you're using a flatpack version of Rider. MAKE SURE it has access to your steam folder.
Or where ever your game is installed
Example:
flatpak override --user com.jetbrains.Rider --filesystem=/home/luke/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam
Once all that is done, if you still can't build. You MAY need to open Rider and go to:
Settings -> Toolset and Build -> .NET CLI executable path
If you see /home/your_name/.dotnet/dotnet and have the option to use one in /var/run/host/usr/lib/dotnet/dotnet you'll wanna use the /var/run/host one instead.
You might also need dotnet 8.0. If you do run these commands
sudo apt install dotnet-sdk-8.0
sudo apt install dotnet-runtime-8.0
sudo apt install aspnetcore-runtime-8.0
