Research Agent and Mindmap
This release introduces significant updates to the Theseus Insight platform, focusing on database migration, enhanced features, and improved documentation. The PostgreSQL database has been replaced with SQLite, enabling simplified setup and improved portability. A new feature, the Mind-Map Explorer, has been added for interactive visualization of research paper relationships. Additionally, the documentation has been extensively updated to reflect these changes and provide clearer installation and usage instructions.
Database Migration and Simplification:
Migrated from PostgreSQL to SQLite, replacing pgvector with sqlite-vec for vector similarity and switching to SQLite FTS5 for full-text search. (README.md, [1] [2]
Removed PostgreSQL-related scripts, environment variables, and configurations, including external database access setup. (Dockerfile, [1] [2] [3] [4]
Updated default database path to data/theseus.db and removed PostgreSQL data directory references. (README.md, [1] [2]
New Features:
Introduced Mind-Map Explorer, enabling multi-order expansion, interactive visualization, configurable parameters, and real-time progress tracking. (README.md, [1] [2]
Added fallback to Kaggle ArXiv dataset for robust data access when the ArXiv API is unavailable. (README.md, README.mdL130-R298)
Documentation Updates:
Enhanced installation instructions with automated scripts for macOS, Linux, and Windows. (README.md, README.mdL84-R244)
Updated architecture overview to include new components like mindmap and modular API routers. (README.md, README.mdL84-R244)
Deprecated and removed external database access documentation. (README.md, README.mdL178-R340)
These changes streamline the platform's setup, improve its usability, and introduce powerful new capabilities for exploring academic literature.
