Hugging Face Downloader 0.3.0

First public release. Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

Install

1. Download Hugging-Face-Downloader-Setup-0.3.0.exe below.

2. Check the hash before running it. This installer is not code-signed, so this is the only way to confirm you have the file this release actually published. Open Terminal and run:

   Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 "$HOME\Downloads\Hugging-Face-Downloader-Setup-0.3.0.exe"

   It must match the SHA-256 below. If it does not, delete the file and do not run it.

3. Run it. Windows will say "Windows protected your PC" — that appears for any program without a paid signing certificate, not because anything is wrong. Click More info, then Run anyway.

You also need aria2

aria2 does the actual downloading and is not bundled. Install it first:

winget install aria2.aria2

The app will tell you if it cannot find it, and Settings lets you point at aria2c.exe directly. See the README for options without a package manager.

What it does

Lists what is in a Hugging Face repository, tells you what each quantization costs in disk space, and downloads only the files that belong together — keeping split models in one piece. Every file is written to a .part and renamed only after its size and, where Hugging Face publishes one, its SHA-256 check out.

Your access token, if you use one, reaches huggingface.co and nowhere else. It is never put on a command line, never written to the settings file, and never printed. See Where your token goes in the README.

Comes as a desktop app and a terminal script that follow the same rules.
