Troubleshooting

Deutsch

Hier findest du Lösungen für häufige Probleme mit dem PagerAlarm Docking Adapter.

Firmware

D1 Mini bootet nicht

Symptom Ursache Lösung
Keine LED, kein Serial Output Falscher Pin auf LOW bei Boot Prüfe GPIO0, GPIO2, GPIO15
Endlosschleife beim Flashen esptool mit falschem Port Port prüfen (ls /dev/ttyUSB*)
"Brownout detector" im Log Instabile Spannung Anderes USB-Kabel/Netzteil testen

Keine WiFi-Verbindung

Symptom: Serieller Monitor zeigt endlos "Connecting to WiFi..."

Ursachen & Lösungen:

  1. Falsche SSID oder Passwort in config_dock.py

    • Prüfe auf Tippfehler, Groß-/Kleinschreibung
    • Spezielle Zeichen können Probleme verursachen
  2. 2,4 GHz Netzwerk nicht verfügbar

    • D1 Mini unterstützt nur 2,4 GHz, kein 5 GHz
    • Prüfe Router-Einstellungen
  3. Signal zu schwach

    • D1 Mini näher zum Router platzieren
    • Antennen-Modell verwenden (ESP-07S statt D1 Mini)

Keine MQTT-Verbindung

Symptom: "MQTT connection failed" im Log

Checkliste:

  • Broker-IP korrekt? (ping 192.168.178.XXX)
  • Port 1883 erreichbar? (telnet <broker-ip> 1883)
  • Authentifizierung erforderlich? (MQTT_USER / MQTT_PASS)
  • Firewall blockt Port 1883?
  • Broker läuft? (systemctl status mosquitto)

Kein Alarm bei Pager-Einstecken

Symptom: LED geht aus, aber kein MQTT-Publish

Ursachen:

  1. Cooldown aktiv — 40 Sekunden nach dem letzten Senden wird kein neuer Alarm ausgelöst

    • Warte 40 Sekunden oder setze COOLDOWN_MS herunter (für Tests)
  2. Falscher Pin konfiguriert

    • Prüfe ALERT_PIN in config_dock.py
    • Default: GPIO5 (D1)
  3. Kein Pull-Up aktiv

    • Stelle sicher, dass der Pin mit machine.Pin.PULL_UP initialisiert wird
    • Externen Pull-Up-Widerstand (10kΩ) hinzufügen, falls nötig
  4. Mechanisches Prellen

    • Erhöhe DEBOUNCE_MS auf z.B. 50 ms

Status-LED funktioniert nicht

Symptom Ursache Lösung
LED leuchtet gar nicht Falscher Pin (GPIO0/D3) GPIO5, GPIO4, GPIO14 etc. verwenden
LED leuchtet dauerhaft LED falsch gepolt Anode (+) an GPIO, Kathode (-) an GND
LED flackert Instabile Spannung Kondensator (100nF) parallel zur LED

Hardware

PCB wird heiß

  • Kurzschluss prüfen (Durchgangsprüfer)
  • Richtige Polung der USB-Buchsen?
  • D1 Mini korrekt eingesetzt (nicht verschoben)?

Docking-Kontakt funktioniert nicht

  1. Kontakt reinigen — Oxidation entfernen
  2. Federkraft prüfen — Kontakt muss sicher aufliegen
  3. Durchgang messen — Mit Multimeter von Kontakt zu GPIO-Pin
  4. Spannung messen — Im Ruhezustand HIGH (3,3 V), beim Einstecken LOW (0 V)

Node-RED

Keine Telegram-Nachrichten

  1. Bot-Token korrekt?
  2. Chat-ID korrekt? (Numerisch, nicht der Username)
  3. /start im Chat mit dem Bot gesendet?

English

Here you will find solutions for common problems with the PagerAlarm Docking Adapter.

Firmware

D1 Mini does not boot

Symptom Cause Solution
No LED, no serial output Wrong pin LOW at boot Check GPIO0, GPIO2, GPIO15
Infinite loop while flashing esptool with wrong port Check port (ls /dev/ttyUSB*)
"Brownout detector" in log Unstable voltage Test different USB cable/power supply

No WiFi connection

Symptom: Serial monitor shows endless "Connecting to WiFi..."

Causes & Solutions:

  1. Wrong SSID or password in config_dock.py

    • Check for typos, case sensitivity
    • Special characters may cause issues
  2. 2.4 GHz network not available

    • D1 Mini only supports 2.4 GHz, no 5 GHz
    • Check router settings
  3. Signal too weak

    • Place D1 Mini closer to router
    • Use antenna model (ESP-07S instead of D1 Mini)

No MQTT connection

Symptom: "MQTT connection failed" in log

Checklist:

  • Broker IP correct? (ping 192.168.178.XXX)
  • Port 1883 reachable? (telnet <broker-ip> 1883)
  • Authentication required? (MQTT_USER / MQTT_PASS)
  • Firewall blocking port 1883?
  • Broker running? (systemctl status mosquitto)

No alarm when pager inserted

Symptom: LED goes off, but no MQTT publish

Causes:

  1. Cooldown active — 40 seconds after last send, no new alarm is triggered

    • Wait 40 seconds or reduce COOLDOWN_MS (for testing)
  2. Wrong pin configured

    • Check ALERT_PIN in config_dock.py
    • Default: GPIO5 (D1)
  3. No pull-up active

    • Ensure pin is initialized with machine.Pin.PULL_UP
    • Add external pull-up resistor (10kΩ) if needed
  4. Mechanical bounce

    • Increase DEBOUNCE_MS to e.g. 50 ms

Status LED not working

Symptom Cause Solution
LED does not light up at all Wrong pin (GPIO0/D3) Use GPIO5, GPIO4, GPIO14 etc.
LED lights up continuously LED reversed polarity Anode (+) to GPIO, cathode (-) to GND
LED flickers Unstable voltage Capacitor (100nF) parallel to LED

Hardware

PCB gets hot

  • Check for short circuit (continuity tester)
  • Correct polarity of USB sockets?
  • D1 Mini properly inserted (not shifted)?

Docking contact does not work

  1. Clean contact — Remove oxidation
  2. Check spring force — Contact must rest securely
  3. Measure continuity — With multimeter from contact to GPIO pin
  4. Measure voltage — Idle: HIGH (3.3 V), when inserted: LOW (0 V)

Node-RED

No Telegram messages

  1. Bot token correct?
  2. Chat ID correct? (Numeric, not the username)
  3. /start sent in chat with bot?
  4. Node-RED restarted after module installation?

Messages arrive delayed

  • Check network latency
  • Check MQTT QoS (in flow: QoS 2, can be slower — use QoS 1 for faster alarms)
