OpenROM v2.7.2 — Hotfix
Universal Retro Gaming Toolkit for retro gaming.
Each download includes:
- OpenROM — Flutter desktop GUI
- openrom-core — headless CLI (used internally by the GUI)
🔧 What's Fixed in 2.7.2
Bug 1 — Permission denied on Linux/macOS (all users affected)
Bundled binaries (chdman, maxcso, ecm, etc.) were stored without exec bits,
causing [Errno 13] Permission denied on first run. Fixed at build time
(chmod +x on all 21 binaries) and at runtime via automatic os.chmod(0o755)
with fallback to system PATH.
Bug 2 — Codec error on PS2/GameCube/Wii/Xbox CHD (Normal compression)
cdlz is a CD-only codec and was incorrectly used for createdvd, causing
Codec error: Fatal error occurred: 1 on every DVD-based ISO with default
settings. Fixed by splitting compression presets:
- CD platforms (PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, Sega CD) →
cdlz - DVD platforms (PS2, GameCube, Wii, Xbox) →
zlib(Normal) /zstd,zlib,huff(High)
Thanks to @LucianoSkx for the exceptional bug report — root causes,
logs, manual codec verification, and suggested fixes all in one issue. 🙏
