v0.3.23-beta Highlights

  • Fixed the local-model downloader: ONNX models now perform a real Hub download instead of treating a newly-created empty folder as an offline model.
  • New local-first installs automatically prepare the selected Parakeet model in the background, while cloud users do not download local weights unless they select that lane.
  • Model readiness now requires a verified payload manifest; empty, interrupted, stale, and deleted model folders are no longer reported as ready.
  • Release CI launches the frozen EXE and proves that both packaged local speech engines and their distribution metadata can initialize.
  • Processing now stays in the compact regular Pill. The full-spectrum rainbow appears only after successful completion and crossfades smoothly back to the normal Pill.
  • Transactional installer rollback, checksum-verified in-app updates, capture recovery, and the fast formatting path remain included.

First Run

Launch the app, keep the no-key local default or choose a cloud provider with your own key, and save setup. The microphone stays off until you press a trigger or click the pill.

Privacy

This release does not contain API keys, private config, dictionaries, snippets, or transcript history. On Windows, saved provider keys use Windows Credential Manager; non-secret preferences and local content stay under %APPDATA%\TalkDat.
