Sagascript 1.4.3

A bug-fix release. No new features.

Dictation

  • The first dictation after launch now pastes into the app you are dictating into. Previously, if you clicked into a browser or another app right after starting Sagascript, the first push-to-talk could fail with "Paste target changed before keystroke dispatch" and the text ended up in Settings instead. Sagascript now gives focus back to your app before pasting, and the Settings window no longer flashes forward during that first recording.
  • On macOS, F14 and F15 are the screen-brightness keys and never reach Sagascript. Choosing one of them as a shortcut now shows a warning (in Settings and the CLI). F13 and F16–F19 work.

Profiles

  • Each dictation profile owns its language, shortcut(s), dictionary and model. If you change a profile's language and its model doesn't support the new language (for example Pianissimo, which is Swedish-only), the model is set to Recommended for that language and Sagascript tells you so, in the app and the CLI. Other profiles are never changed. File transcription keeps its own model choice.

File transcription and CLI

  • Ctrl-C now cancels sagascript transcribe cleanly within a fraction of a second: no partial output, no engine process left behind, exit code 130 (143 for SIGTERM), and a final cancelled event with --progress-json. In the app, Stop now also responds while Pianissimo is still loading.

Under the hood

  • Diagnostics for focus and paste problems are logged at debug level (RUST_LOG=debug); paste rejections and focus restores stay in the normal log.
  • Releases are now built and signed when the version changes and promoted from the verified build when tagged.

Compatibility: macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon (Pianissimo needs macOS 14 or later). Windows 11 on ARM (Snapdragon) for Pianissimo; Windows x64 (Intel/AMD) is a separate beta with Whisper only. Windows installers are unsigned and may show a SmartScreen warning; on Windows, dictation can be slower on battery or in Energy Saver.
