What's new

  • Cards: Session (running/idle, elapsed, live turn), Context (tokens in window, compactions), Tokens (input, cached, output, reasoning, output-per-request sparkline), 5h and weekly limits with reset countdowns, Turns (count, average, last, turn-length sparkline), Tasks, Agents, Recent activity.
  • Responsive grid: 3 columns from 132, 2 from 76, 1 from 40, a compact view below. --layout auto|compact|standard|expanded.
  • Looks: --theme dark|light (picked from COLORFGBG), --ascii, NO_COLOR. Only changed lines are redrawn.
  • Honest numbers: no turn quota, ETAs labelled est., "Waiting for…" when a reading is missing. A turn that ends on an error is not counted as completed. Every source is in CAPABILITY.md.
  • Private: commands show the program (plus a subcommand for tools like git/npm), paths their last two parts; no arguments, output or diffs. Bidi and zero-width characters are stripped.

First release of Codex Widget Kit: live usage rings, effort meter, task ETA and sub-agent cards for OpenAI Codex CLI, in their own terminal pane.

What's in it

  • 5h, week and context rings. The context ring uses Codex's own context-remaining formula.
  • Effort meter, task bar with an ETA from update_plan, and a card per live sub-agent
  • install.sh --statusline turns on Codex's built-in status line, with a private backup of config.toml
  • Zero dependencies and read-only. Tested on macOS and Ubuntu, Node 20 and 24, against Codex CLI 0.163.
