Notes
Amonite Lite provides a minimal desktop built from independent upstream components instead of a traditional desktop environment.
Each permanent component integrates through standard Debian mechanisms, keeping the system small, modular and easy to understand while avoiding custom desktop infrastructure whenever the platform already provides the required functionality.
Amonite remains a curated operating system whose identity comes from deliberate engineering decisions rather than software accumulation.
The project continues to prioritize:
- simplicity;
- efficiency;
- security;
- privacy;
- maintainability.
This release is intended for evaluation and testing.
Although the product architecture is considered stable, implementation work continues as the project progresses toward its first stable release.
It may still contain bugs, incomplete features or compatibility issues and should not yet be considered production-ready.
