This release focuses on providing a complete mobile experience while preserving Amonite's lightweight architecture.
The system integrates mobile-specific hardware, connectivity and interaction through standard Debian mechanisms and upstream components. Waydroid is integrated with its Android images included in the system, allowing Android applications to be used without an additional image download or interactive initialization.
The camera stack uses libcamera and PipeWire through GNOME Snapshot rather than relying on device-specific camera pipelines, allowing the same desktop camera application to integrate with supported mobile hardware and other supported camera sources.
Amonite remains a curated operating system whose identity comes from deliberate engineering decisions rather than software accumulation.
The project continues to prioritize:
- simplicity;
- efficiency;
- security;
- privacy;
- maintainability.
This release is intended for evaluation and testing.
Although the product architecture is considered stable, implementation work continues as the project progresses toward its first stable release.
It may still contain bugs, incomplete features or compatibility issues and should not yet be considered production-ready.
