Usage Guide

TopWinPrio runs quietly in the background and adjusts CPU priority of the active window.

Tray Menu

  • Enable Auto-start — start automatically after login.
  • Show Notifications — display a brief toast when switching priorities.
  • Exit — close the application.

How It Works

When a window gains focus, TopWinPrio uses Win32 API calls:

SetPriorityClass(processHandle, HIGH_PRIORITY_CLASS);

Background processes are returned to NORMAL_PRIORITY_CLASS to keep the foreground app responsive.

Tips

  • Works well for games, video editors, or any CPU-heavy app.
  • Combine with Windows “Game Mode” for best results.
