New

  • claude-focus (Windows): a small utility that brings the Claude desktop app to the front, focused and ready to type, launching it first if it isn't open. Bind it to the Copilot key with PowerToys Keyboard Manager so that key opens Claude instead of Copilot. Runs in about 30 ms. claude-focus.exe is included in the Windows archives. Setup, including keyboards where Fn switches the key to Menu: docs/claude-focus.md. (#9, #10)
  • Distilling environment memories: lift transferable lessons (shell/OS quirks, CLI gotchas, toolchain, your standing preferences) out of one project's Claude Code memories into a shared catalog under ~/.claudesync/distilled/, and reuse them in any other project. (#3)
    • /distill and /distill-apply Claude Code skills in skills/.
    • New claude-memsync distill command (--prune, --dry-run) that rebuilds the DISTILLED.md index and reports what's left to distill.
    • The sync daemon rebuilds the index after every sync. DISTILLED.md is regenerated per PC and git-ignored, so it never causes merge conflicts; the entry files sync like everything else.
    • Full guide: docs/distilling-memories.md.

Fixes

  • claude-memsync init now suggests an Edit(~/.claudesync/distilled/**) permission rule instead of Write(...). Claude Code only matches file permissions against Edit(...) rules, so the old rule never applied and caused a warning at every launch. If you added the Write(...) rule, replace it with Edit(...). (#6)

Development

  • Shared pre-commit hook that runs the same gofmt check as CI. Enable once per clone with git config core.hooksPath .githooks. (#4)
  • The release workflow no longer runs twice per release. (#2)

Upgrading from v0.1.8

claude-memsync stop
# extract the new archive, copy bin/* over your existing install
claude-memsync start
claude-memsync version # should report v0.2.0

No config or on-disk layout changes. To use distilling, install the skills as described in the distilling guide.
