@Martonveghcode Martonveghcode released this 12 Oct 10:13

Release 2.0 brings the handwriting formatting pipeline into the unified MTYH Windows desktop app and adds an automatic route from original text to a printable PDF.

Highlights

  • MTYH desktop app: combines the repository's formatting, image-processing, training-data, and printable-export tools in one interface.
  • AUTO workflow: formats original text using the current formatter settings, runs HST headlessly one section at a time, and exports the final printable PDF. Generated images use the chosen prefix and are removed after a successful export.
  • Improved printable output: direct PDF export, improved image alignment, and page-by-page streaming for zero-overlap PDF exports to reduce memory use on large batches.
  • Improved text formatting: smarter formatting that respects paragraph structure, with configurable character replacements for limited Unicode-to-ASCII support.
  • App refinements: saved settings, diagnostic logging, and sidebar focus styling fixes.
  • Updated documentation: Before/After examples now appear below the README introduction, alongside links to the modernized HELIT/HST source and setup notes.

Source and setup

Download the source archives below for the MTYH app, standalone scripts, examples, and recommended training sheet. This release includes the current MTYH source, which reports app version 2.0.4.

AUTO requires a configured WSL HST installation and handwriting .line_graph examples. The Python 3 / Ubuntu 24.04 HELIT/HST source is available separately on the modern-hst branch; see its modernization notes and installation script.

See the README for the pipeline, examples, and training-data guidance.
