eMerger v3.0.0

A redesign of the output, the installer and the safety checks.

What's new

  • New terminal UI: header with OS and version, per-manager progress with ETA, live status line and a compact summary box.
  • --deep-clean (Unix): also cleans the journal, old kernels, leftover configs, snap revisions, container images, crash dumps, npm and Go caches, asking before each step.
  • --accept-licenses: lets softwareupdate, winget, choco and Windows Update accept licence agreements. Without it they only list updates.
  • --download-only now also supports softwareupdate on macOS.
  • Man page installed with the installer (man up).
  • Safer by default: configs, profiles, hooks and plugins writable by other users are ignored, and up refuses to start if its folder is writable by others.

Changes

  • setup.sh / setup.ps1 are now install.sh / install.ps1. update.sh is gone: use up --self-update.
  • Bash 4.4+ is now required (on macOS: brew install bash).
  • --no-emoji is now --ascii.
  • The uninstaller now asks whether to also delete your settings, history and cache.
  • README rewritten and much shorter, with full details in doc/documentation.pdf.

Removed

  • The interactive menu (-i) and --report.
