MacGameFix 1.5.6
MacGameFix 1.5.6
- Cyberpunk 2077 for Mac: the MetalFX denoiser it ships, turned on. The first fix for a macOS game: no Wine is involved. Cyberpunk 2077 2.5.0 carries Apple's MetalFX denoiser, but its renderer answers "not supported" from a two-instruction method; CD PROJEKT's 2.5 notes first listed "Frame Interpolation and Denoising on Mac" and were edited within a day to drop "Denoising". The fix writes the one instruction that makes the game offer it (four bytes of
Cyberpunk2077.app's executable) and signs the app again ad hoc. Only the executable changes: the frameworks keep CD PROJEKT's signatures. What is lost is what only CD PROJEKT's signature can carry,sustained-executionamong it. MacGameFix asks before it changes the app, keeps the original in itsapp-backupfolder, and Remove puts it back with CD PROJEKT's signature. M3 or later, which Apple lists for MetalFX denoised upscaling.- A game update waits for a recipe. Each game build needs its own row; a build with none shows No recipe for this build yet and nothing is changed. With Keep it applied on, the fix comes back on its own when a catalog with the new build's row arrives, with no new app.
- Played on 2026-10-22 on an M4 Max with the one instruction written by hand: it looked good. The installer was run on the real game from a terminal: install, remove and install again. Not measured: frame times, an M3, and an install from MacGameFix, where macOS may ask to allow it under App Management.
- Show the pad as a DualShock 4, a new per-game option in Game Feel, for a game whose Sony code knows only that pad. Mortal Kombat 11 is the first: its 2017
libScePadopens a USB DualShock 4, and with the option on it vibrates. It vibrated with a DualSense Edge over Bluetooth and on a cable; a DualSense was played over Bluetooth too. Over Bluetooth it needs Bluetooth as a cable, which the app turns on with it. - Nioh 3 plays its haptics. It looks for the controller's audio output through SetupAPI and XAudio2, which Wine did not answer; three new Wine module patches do. Nioh 3 gets a suggested setting (the Edge shown as a DualSense, XInput off). Played on 2026-10-22 with a DualSense Edge over Bluetooth, the game's vibration set to Immersive: it vibrated well. Not played on a cable.
- NINJA GAIDEN 4: its video no longer crashes the game. The fix read every video buffer's length from the first one; it now reads each buffer's own. Played on 2026-10-22: the videos play, and the game vibrates with the Edge shown as a DualSense and XInput off.
- An Edge shown as a DualSense has a DualSense's audio device on a cable too, as it already had over Bluetooth. Not played on a cable yet.
- It Vibrates…, a third button in a game's Game Feel sheet: it opens a short form, "A game that vibrates", filled in from the Wine modules' log (the controller, the connection, and the pad the game was shown). A game played that way joins the list of games played for vibration, which this release starts.
- After updating the app, update the Wine modules: Wine Modules › Update All. Both CrossOver Preview 27 builds (41069 and 41073) get new
winebus.so(the DualShock 4),winecoreaudio.so(the Edge's audio name),mmdevapi.dll, and two modules new to MacGameFix,setupapi.dllandxaudio2_9.dll(Nioh 3). - For apps older than 1.5.6, which take this release's fixes catalog too: they show Cyberpunk 2077 as an ordinary fix, without asking first, and a build with no recipe as Cannot be fixed here.
Fixes updated, 2026-10-22. Only the fixes catalog changed; the app, its download and the Wine modules are the same. Built from commit 7608d97 (#14).
- Mortal Kombat 11: the movies get their colours and their frame order back. CrossOver's H.264 decoder offers the game only YV12, which the game draws as NV12 (grey with purple and green bands); the fix offers NV12 again and puts the frames back in the order they are shown, which made them look choppy. The face fix is in the same file. DirectX 11 (DXMT) has not been played with it yet.
- How it arrives: apps take the new catalog on their own within a day, or at once with Check for New Fixes in the menu bar; then Mortal Kombat 11 shows Older build: install to update in Games, or updates itself when Keep it applied is on.
Licences. The app is GPL-3.0-or-later and carries the text.
- The Wine modules are built from the Wine in CodeWeavers' CrossOver sources (LGPL-2.1-or-later), with the patches in
engine/patches. Thewine-source-crossover-*.tar.xzfiles below are the exact Wine trees they were built from. - The video reader some fixes install is built on FFmpeg 9.0.2 (LGPL-2.1-or-later). Its notice and the LGPL text install beside it, and
ffmpeg-9.0.2.tar.xzbelow is its source. - NINJA GAIDEN 3's fix carries winevideo's builds of
qasf, quartzandwinegstreamer(Wine, LGPL-2.1-or-later) and d9vk (zlib), with their notices.ng3-winevideo-0.5.0-sources.tar.xzbelow holds winevideo 0.5.0's patches and source inventory; they apply to CodeWeavers'crossover-sources-26.2.0.tar.gz. - The DXBC checksum code in the Mortal Kombat 11 fix comes from vkd3d-shader (LGPL-2.1-or-later).
- The Cyberpunk 2077 fix ships no code of CD PROJEKT's: only the offset, the bytes and the hashes it checks.
Signed and notarised. The app and every program inside it (the Wine modules for macOS, sm2-shadertool) are signed with the Developer ID of IT SOMAX SPA and notarised by Apple, so a download should open after macOS's usual question, with no Right click › Open (not yet tried on another Mac). MacGameFix's identity changes once from the ad hoc builds, so macOS may ask again for what MacGameFix had been allowed, App Management among it. Replaced in this release on 2026-10-22: the app and its .sha256, and the catalogs and Wine modules, whose files changed only in their signatures.
Requires macOS 14 on Apple Silicon. Built from commit 19bad36 (#5–#13).
