Crash Bandicoot PC Launcher v2.2

New Features

  • Quick save / quick load: F5–F8 hotkeys, slot selection and pause menu actions
  • Optional "save lives" setting: your lives count is kept when loading a memory card save, like in Crash 2 and 3 (off = original 4-life behavior)
  • Optional CRT filter, based on Mattias Gustavsson's CRT View shader
  • Optional analog stick movement for Crash (D-pad and keyboard unchanged)
  • Optional box counter HUD in Crash 1 levels, showing boxes broken out of the total needed for the gem
  • Scaled dither: the dither pattern now stays aligned to PS1 pixels at any internal resolution (on by default, turned off automatically with Dedither)
  • PlayStation Classic controller support, plus other pads missing from SDL's controller database
  • Optional Crash-themed style for the pause menu, Dev Menu and Settings, matching the launcher (the classic gray menus are still available)
  • Settings are now split into Display, Graphics, Audio and Gameplay tabs, switchable with keyboard and gamepad

Thanks @FireGate13 for #130 and #131, @arciks1192-svg for #119 and @calculon559 for #142.

Bug Fixes

Native 16:9 gaps and missing geometry filled in:

  • Jungle Rollers: canopy and side edges
  • Upstream: black gaps along the edges
  • Koala Kong: cave walls and end walls
  • Pinstripe: sky, skylight and office geometry
  • Sunset Vista: shafts, rooftops, temple walls, walkway, sky panorama and the gap above the first shaft entrance
  • Boulder Dash: canyon edges and temple gate
  • The Great Gate: open edges, bushes and shadow bands

Other fixes:

  • Fixed the game crashing when pressing , / or . on ABNT2 and similar keyboard layouts
  • Fixed the ~2 second 30 FPS hitch when entering a level or changing the FPS cap
  • Fixed the lightning strike effect not rendering correctly
  • Settings and the Dev Menu no longer both have a "Developer Menu" entry
