No firmware needed

Folklore's SPU jobs now run on this project's own implementation of the SPURS job chains the game uses, instead of Sony's libsre. Building needs only your Folklore disc (BCUS98147 v1.00) and its decrypted EBOOT — no PS3 firmware file.

  • Checked against recordings of Sony's library job by job, across Ellen's and Keats' first chapters: every kind of job starts in the same state, and the game plays at 60 fps.
  • The main thread spends much less time in library calls (about 0.6 ms instead of 4.6 ms per frame).
  • libsre can still be used for comparison: setup.ps1 -LibsrePrx <file>, then run.ps1 -Libsre.
  • Details: folklore/docs/SPURS.md.

See the README for how to build it from your own disc.

If using the binary just simply run the exe and follow the instructions. You will still require a decrypted version of the EBOOT.bin (EBOOT.elf). See the homepage for details.

v0.1-lle: works with the real libsre

Last version known to work with Sony’s real libsre (lifted from your own firmware). Playable on Windows: boots, does the first-boot install, and plays, including captures with the original motion controls. Build it from your own BCUS98147 v1.00 disc, decrypted EBOOT.elf and decrypted libsre.prx — see the README.
