Bad Piggies :: Rebooted — native Windows port (Delta-Epsilon) BPRE_WinARM_

Native Windows port of Bad Piggies :: Rebooted, built with Unity 2018.4.36f1. This release contains five ready-to-use targets: native UWP ARM32, UWP x64, UWP x86, and Windows x64 / x86 standalone builds.

The main goal of the port is the ARM32 UWP player — a target that never existed in the original project. It runs natively on Windows 10 Mobile, the leaked Windows 10 ARM32 desktop build 15035, and on Windows 10/11 ARM64 through ARM32 backward compatibility.

Windows 7/8/8.1 support is provided by the Mono standalone player. UWP packages require Windows 10 or newer.

Installation

Standalone (Win32 / Win64)

  1. Unpack the folder.
  2. Run BadPiggiesRebooted.exe.

No certificate, dependencies, or sideloading are needed.

Desktop Windows 10 / 11 (UWP x64 / x86)

  1. Enable Developer mode or sideloading in Settings → Update & security → For developers.
  2. Run Install.bat as administrator.
  3. The installer trusts the certificate, installs Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00, installs the game, and offers to launch it.

Manual installation: import the .cer into Local Machine → Trusted People, install Dependencies\Microsoft.VCLibs.*.appx, then the game .appx.

Windows 10 Mobile / Windows 10 ARM32 15035

Use BPRE_UWP-ARM32. The installer is compatible with Constrained Language Mode on build 15035: it avoids Add-Type, System.IO.Compression, and other blocked .NET calls, and reads the package version/architecture from the file name.

On Windows 10 Mobile, install the .cer into Trusted People and deploy the VCLibs dependency and the game with CMD Injector or Device Portal.

What was done

Native ARM32 support

  • Downgraded the project from Unity 2021.3 to Unity 2018.4.36f1, the last Unity version that still targets Windows 10 Mobile ARM32.
  • Added and validated the UWP ARM32 IL2CPP build path.
  • ARM32 and 32-bit builds show the dedicated port splash with credits; x64 builds keep the original splash.
  • Mode A and Mode B are playable.

Gameplay fixes

  • Fixed powered-part activation so engines and other powered parts start correctly.
  • Fixed touch long-press deletion:
    • holding a finger on the construction grid enables deletion mode;
    • dragging removes every part along the finger path;
    • releasing the finger no longer places the selected part;
    • the cell under the released finger is included in deletion.
  • Rendering and resource loading were validated on all five targets; all resources.assets files pass the out-of-bounds check.

Packaging and signing

  • A single self-signed code-signing certificate is used for all UWP packages: CN=TNT ENTERTAINMENT Inc (SHA-256, valid until 2036). The same .cer works for x64, x86, and ARM32.
  • The UWP app icon is the Rebooted logo on the game’s cream background, applied to Start menu tiles, taskbar, Store logo, and wide tile.
  • The x86 UWP package is correctly named Bad PiggiesRebooted_1.0.0.0_x86.appx (not _Win32) and declares ProcessorArchitecture="x86".
  • Every UWP folder contains the installer, instructions, and the required VCLibs dependency.

Build reliability

  • Every build starts from a clean output folder and clears Unity’s Library\PlayerDataCache.
  • The standalone build detects incomplete player data and automatically retries once with a clean cache.
  • This prevents the resources.assets corruption (“Position out of bounds!”) that could occur when switching between UWP and standalone targets.
  • UWP splash image, background colour, manifest publisher, icons, and project settings are patched automatically after the Unity build and before MSBuild.

Verified

  • UWP ARM32, x86, and x64 packages build, sign, and publish successfully.
  • Manifests declare the correct architectures: arm, x86, x64.
  • All packages are signed by CN=TNT ENTERTAINMENT Inc; shared certificate thumbprint: C54C1A84A2EB4610BDF006D97A7A01C4F4FE718D.
  • ARM32 package tested on HP Elite x3.
  • UWP x86 works on 32-bit Windows 10/11.
  • Win32 and Win64 standalone players build and start without resource corruption.
  • resources.assets in all five releases: 0 out-of-bounds objects.

Known limitations

  • Surface RT and Surface 2 are not playable with this build because of GPU/driver limitations. External compatibility work is being developed in Max-RM/Win32Craft_ARM; it has already been proven to work in testing, but the fix is not published yet.
  • UWP packages require sideloading/Developer mode and trusting the self-signed certificate.
  • Windows 10 Mobile requires manual deployment via CMD Injector or Device Portal.
  • The project is not affiliated with Rovio; all original Bad Piggies assets and code belong to their respective owners.
