One click install (for people not good with command line). Download
Compartment-3.5.1.pkg above and open it. Python, the embedding model and
every dependency are inside it, so there is nothing to install first. macOS
only.
Either way you end up in the same place. After install, everything is managed
from the app: the menu bar on macOS, the notification area on
Windows, and a window from your applications menu on Linux. Unlock, lock,
change your passphrase, the settings, and the CONNECT AN AGENT buttons
are all there, so nobody has to open a terminal a second time.
Compartment is an MCP server, so it works with all MCP capable agentic AI out
of the box.
Improvements
The panel fits again. A macOS popover has a height limit, and past it
the whole panel goes behind a scrollbar. Unlocked with five memories showing
it had grown to 675 points against a 640 cap, so scrolling had become the
normal case rather than the exception. It is 592 now, with the settings and
the Connect buttons all visible at once.
Plainer settings. "Capture hook" is now Create memories
automatically, which is what it does rather than what it is called
internally. The explanatory lines under it and under Search starter facts
are gone: the switch already says it. Auto-lock keeps its line, because
"30 min" on its own does not say what happens after 30 minutes.
Connecting an agent explains itself. The standing paragraph under the
Connect buttons is gone. The heading and the buttons say what they do, and
that space is now used only for the result when you press one.
