Reliable background processes: the background panel now only registers commands actually moved to the background with Ctrl+B, so ordinary foreground commands no longer pollute the list or leave the busy indicator stuck. A 5-second PID liveness self-check marks zombie running entries as completed, completed entries are cleaned up automatically after 60 seconds, and the process id is captured synchronously so close/error events always update the final status. A delayed Ctrl+B request can no longer background the next unrelated command
Structured, diagnosable logging: the logger now writes structured entries with hierarchical namespaces (mcp.catalog, session.compressor, ...), session/task/trace context, operation timings and normalized error objects, and supports a ring-buffer memory sink that never writes ANSI escape codes into the TUI. Silent catch blocks across core modules (agents, MCP tools, SSH/SSE, sessions/tasks/teams, plugins, UI and CLI shutdown) now emit contextual debug logs, making previously invisible failures traceable without changing user-visible behavior
Unified storage and sandbox isolation: global paths under ~/.snow (logs, SSE daemons, sessions, ...) now resolve through a single Snow context, and SNOW_CONFIG_DIR fully isolates global storage so test or multi-environment runs never touch the real home directory. Environment variables are read through a typed whitelist with safe boolean/integer/path parsing, and cache invalidation is decoupled through a registry that breaks circular dependency chains
Engineering governance: added Biome formatting/lint configuration, knip unused-code analysis, a test gate runner with fast / core / session / mcp / theme profiles, dependency-cycle detection, cross-verification audit and probe-metrics scripts
