Hovera 0.2.0. The monitors are now pinned to the room with the MacBook camera: the app learns the shape of your glasses and tracks it, while the gyro keeps the picture glued to your head.
What's new since 0.1.0
- Glasses tracking in the camera: a MediaPipe face model in CoreML, the shape of your glasses learned once and tracked afterwards — screens stop sliding as the gyro drifts.
- The heading is corrected against the camera while the face is visible; past a 30° head turn the picture hands over to the gyro without a jump, so side monitors stop snapping when the face is lost.
- Compass: the world turns no faster than 0.5°/s, so turning in your chair next to something magnetic no longer throws the screens 18° aside;
Krefines the compass centre by the glasses' orientation. - The RayNeo firmware silently re-zeroes its gyro and can eat a slow head turn; those re-zeroes are now undone (Camera → "Отменять пересчёты нуля гироскопа прошивкой", on by default). Give it a minute after switching: the gyro zero is re-learned.
- Gyro scale calibration with two full turns of the glasses on the desk (menu → "Калибровка масштаба гироскопа (очки на столе)"). On the author's pair the gyro under-counted by 3.3 %.
- Recentring:
Rputs the screens back by the MacBook frame (first press shows the outline and a crosshair, second press aligns them);Bremembers the Mac screen;Mmarks "I am looking at the middle screen" in the log. - Sharper text in the glasses: 1920×1080 without HiDPI and a bicubic Catmull-Rom rescale instead of trilinear.
- Guided camera calibration (
⇧K) and a debug window with the live picture, the face box and landmarks. - Head position reworked: the face is measured on its rigid upper part, with depth smoothing and dead zones — the picture no longer pulsates.
Install
- Download
Hovera-0.2.0-macOS-arm64.zip, unzip, moveRayDesk.appto Applications. - The build is not notarized: open it once, then System Settings → Privacy & Security → "Open Anyway" (or
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RayDesk.app). - Allow Screen Recording and Accessibility when asked.
- Put on the glasses, look at a distant point and press ⌃⌥R. Calibrate the compass with ⌃⌥K.
Requirements
- macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon.
- RayNeo Air-series glasses (USB
1bbb:af50). Tested on one pair so far — reports from other models are welcome in Issues.
Unofficial project, not affiliated with RayNeo or TCL. The app is still called RayDesk inside.
