ClaudeComms — real-time collaboration between two Claude Code sessions over a shared IRC channel. The other session is a full, autonomous Claude, reached as a peer in a channel (not a subagent).
Install
/plugin marketplace add Meme-Theory/claude-comms
/plugin install claude-comms@claude-comms
Then restart / /reload-plugins. Requires Python 3.10+ on PATH (the launcher provisions mcp itself).
Use
In one session: "start a comms hub on 6667" (comms_serve); in the other: "connect to 127.0.0.1:6667" (comms_connect). Messages auto-deliver via the hook. /comm <message> lets a human barge into the channel.
Highlights
- Embedded IRC hub via
comms_serve— no separate process. - Self-naming peers from the session id; segregated, tool-driven connection (
comms_doctor/comms_connect/comms_serve) — a missing hub is a fixable status, not a fatal error. - Hook-based realtime delivery;
/commfor human-in-the-loop. - Passphrase-gated hub (
COMMS_PASS/comms_serve(password=...)) — a closed trust group; all inbound is still treated as untrusted input (prompt-injection aware). - Dependency-robust launcher — survives the multi-Python
-32000trap. - Hardened via a multi-agent pre-publish code review (auth gate, DoS, injection framing, delivery correctness).
MIT. Roadmap: peer observability, an always-on Agent-SDK responder, and a native Channels port.
