easyBTX v0.9.8 — Mac reliability (full-speed when locked + charger warning)

Choose a tag to compare

Mac reliability: your Mac now keeps mining at full speed even when you lock the screen or step away.

  • Keeps mining when the screen is locked or the app is in the background (macOS App Nap no longer throttles the miner).
  • Stays awake while mining so an idle Mac doesn't sleep and stop earning (sleeps normally once you stop).
  • Warns if your charger is underpowered — a small USB-C charger can cut mining speed 3–4×; use the 67W+ charger that came with your Mac.

Same mining engine and shares — reliability fixes only, no consensus change. Windows and Linux are unchanged. Updates automatically.

easyBTX v0.9.7 - faster Apple Silicon mining (~40%) + no-VPN connectivity

Faster Apple Silicon mining. A new optimized Metal solver (opt135) scans about 40% more nonces per second on the same Mac. Consensus-verified bit-for-bit identical to the previous solver before shipping, so every share the pool credited before it still credits, just more of them.

Also connects on restrictive networks (hotel/office Wi-Fi) without a VPN, by falling back to a secure TLS connection on port 443 when the plain mining port is blocked.

Runs on macOS Ventura 13 and up (Sonoma, Sequoia included). Auto-updates, so most Macs get it on their own within about 30 minutes.

Apple Silicon only. Windows and Linux unchanged.

easyBTX 0.9.0 — WSL/Linux test build

Pre-release

Test build for the 3060 / WSL2. Not a fleet release — this is a --prerelease, so it does NOT become "latest" and the auto-update feed (latest-linux.json) is intentionally not published. Existing rigs are unaffected.

What's in 0.9.0: TLS-stratum auto-fallback for blocked networks, the in-app WSL/Linux command cheat sheet (Windows/Linux only), and the Linux/WSL auto-update plumbing.

Run it in Ubuntu/WSL:

cd ~ && curl -L -o easyBTX-test.AppImage "https://github.com/MendeMatthias/EasyBTX-releases/releases/download/v0.9.0-test1/easyBTX_0.9.0_amd64.AppImage" && chmod +x easyBTX-test.AppImage && ./easyBTX-test.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run

Built on ubuntu-22.04 (glibc 2.34, well under the 2.35 ceiling). Bundles shib's pinned v0.32.11 CUDA solver.

easyBTX v0.8.10 — Apple Silicon: runs on macOS Ventura / Sonoma / Sequoia

18 Jun 12:59

Apple Silicon Macs on older macOS can mine again: Ventura (13), Sonoma (14), and Sequoia (15).

The bundled Metal solver had been built for the newest macOS only, so on those systems the app opened but the miner quit the instant it started (stuck on "Starting…"). This release ships a solver that runs on older macOS, so those Macs mine normally again. If you are already on the latest macOS, nothing changes: it is the exact same mining engine, verified bit-for-bit identical to the pool's official build, and it updates automatically.

Windows and Linux are unchanged in this release.

easyBTX v0.8.8 — Apple Silicon ~4-5x faster (Mac fix)

easyBTX v0.8.8 — Apple Silicon faster

Apple Silicon Macs: about 4-5x faster

This release fixes a bug that was holding the Mac (Metal) miner far below its potential. Every Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, M4) now mines roughly 4-5x faster. Nothing to do: the update is automatic, just keep the app open.

Windows is being sunset

We are retiring the native Windows build. If you mine on Windows, switch to the Linux build running under WSL (Ubuntu on Windows) -- on the same hardware it is 15-30x faster than native Windows, and it runs right on top of Windows. The native Windows version cannot keep up, so we are moving everyone to the Linux path.

Linux

The Linux build is the most powerful option, and it runs on Windows too via WSL.

easyBTX v0.8.7 — ~4x faster Apple Silicon mining

Apple Silicon Macs (M1/M2/M3/M4) now mine much faster — roughly 4x. We fixed a bug where the Metal miner was silently running far below its potential. The update is automatic; just keep the app open. Windows and Linux are unchanged in this release.

easyBTX v0.8.5 - faster Apple Silicon mining

15 Jun 21:16

Apple Silicon Macs mine noticeably faster in this release.

  • Macs now use all their GPU cores by default. The old default held the Metal solver back to a fraction of the chip. On an M2 Pro we measured roughly 1.4 to 1.8x more sustained throughput, and on the live pool a tuned M2 Pro now out-earns stock M4 and M5 machines. Every Apple Silicon Mac benefits automatically, with nothing to change.
  • Better Metal GPU buffer sizing, which especially helps the smaller fanless Macs that were quietly running at about half speed.
  • Windows and Linux are unchanged.

Macs on 0.6.9 or newer auto-update within about 30 minutes.

easyBTX 0.8.4 — Mac on the V3 engine

15 Jun 14:14
affec8b

Choose a tag to compare

Mac switches to the consensus-valid V3 engine. After the BTX network's MatMul-V3 upgrade the pool no longer credits the old engine, so this restores valid earnings on Apple Silicon. Auto-update delivers it to existing Mac installs.

  • Mac: now runs the V3 solver (verified landing shares on an M2 Pro).
  • Linux / Windows-via-WSL2: already on V3.
  • Native Windows: use the free WSL2 build for the new engine.

The disclosed 4.99% fee is unchanged.

easyBTX 0.7.4 — Linux launch + faster CUDA engine

easyBTX now runs on Linux — and Windows users can run that faster build too.

What's new

  • Linux: easyBTX is now available for Linux PCs with an NVIDIA GPU, as a .deb installer and a portable .AppImage. Pool mining, one click, no node.
  • Windows + WSL2: you can run the faster Linux build on your Windows PC through WSL2. Step-by-step, copy-paste instructions are on the website (fast path: a few commands and it mines).
  • Faster engine on Linux/WSL2: ships the modern v0.32.8 CUDA solver, which works a single NVIDIA card noticeably harder than the native Windows build can.
  • Mac & native Windows: unchanged, proven engines. Macs auto-update to 0.7.4.
  • Bundled node updated to BTX v0.32.9 (Mac Solo).
